@Goblin_Slayer_Floki i think the unverified addons thing was a bug, they've pushed an update

2019-05-05 07:32:20 UTC

not on ESR version tho

2019-05-05 07:32:58 UTC

also idk why anyone would use brave

2019-05-05 07:33:32 UTC

or adblock plus for that matter

2019-05-05 08:20:36 UTC

It gets the job done *shrug*

2019-05-05 09:10:34 UTC

@Tero I don't think it's edgy, I just hate it when scripting gets confused with programming. Maybe it's because I'm anal or maybe it's because I'm old school.

2019-05-05 09:10:57 UTC

it is edgy, bc scripting is programming

2019-05-05 09:11:11 UTC

no, it isn't.

2019-05-05 09:11:45 UTC

if it's turing complete, it's programming

2019-05-05 09:11:57 UTC

it's putting commands in sequence, programming is something you compile into machine code

2019-05-05 09:12:16 UTC

by your logic html is programming

2019-05-05 09:12:52 UTC

i think you actually need a feature of css to make it turing complete

2019-05-05 09:13:07 UTC

edgy

2019-05-05 09:13:40 UTC

turing complete, does that mean you have to be gay?

2019-05-05 09:14:07 UTC

but there is something of a practical limitation in that actually utilizing that to do computation is both beyond the capabilities of the people writing html and impractial

2019-05-05 09:14:17 UTC

so idk

2019-05-05 09:17:04 UTC

when any old plain tagging gets called programming in popular culture. a distinction should be made.

2019-05-05 09:18:57 UTC

i think the defining quality is whether you can use it to write algorithms, which the computer then carries out

2019-05-05 09:19:07 UTC

if you can, you are programming by definition

2019-05-05 09:20:53 UTC

anything else is really focusing on form rather than substance

2019-05-05 22:27:02 UTC
2019-05-06 07:18:18 UTC

terppa, I guess you are right. I do believe form has value too, it doesn't have to be a rather/or situation. You can do both things with finesse.

i always thought emojis were per-app for some reason, rather than per system

2019-05-08 09:09:15 UTC

they're not per system as long as the system displays images. technically anything can be an emoji if it's the right size, end user can't really tell the difference.
