silicon valley here

2019-06-12 20:22:39 UTC

I know

2019-06-12 20:22:41 UTC

I figured it out

2019-06-12 20:22:44 UTC

I know what it is

2019-06-12 20:23:05 UTC

england is a police state with shitty roads where going too fast lands you a ticket regardless of whether there's police nearby

2019-06-12 20:23:14 UTC

uh...

2019-06-12 20:23:24 UTC

when I say shitty roads I mean for fun driving

2019-06-12 20:23:32 UTC

I don't mean poor road conditions

2019-06-12 20:23:45 UTC

you can assume that but there are plenty of roads you can speed on with little risk

2019-06-12 20:24:03 UTC

okay, but which ones are they?

2019-06-12 20:24:11 UTC

like, are they big long windy roads

2019-06-12 20:24:41 UTC

m4 is good, m40 is alright, m1 is okay once you pass luton at night but not in the day

2019-06-12 20:24:50 UTC

my experience with england has been that all the city roads are too narrow, all the country roads are too narrow, and they're relatively straight

2019-06-12 20:25:08 UTC

and/or have traffic

2019-06-12 20:25:12 UTC

an American talking about straight roads

2019-06-12 20:25:15 UTC

although I haven't been in a while

2019-06-12 20:25:15 UTC

lol

2019-06-12 20:25:16 UTC

are you kidding me here

2019-06-12 20:25:19 UTC

a *californian*

2019-06-12 20:25:25 UTC

go look at 17

2019-06-12 20:26:10 UTC

eh, the m4 looks okay, not quite windy enough to be fun though

2019-06-12 20:26:26 UTC

I've only driven around sf in cali, until north of the Golden gate bridge I didn't see any roads that I would have particularly considered suitable for enthusiasts though

2019-06-12 20:26:40 UTC

look at los gatos

2019-06-12 20:26:45 UTC

that's where all the rich people are

2019-06-12 20:26:49 UTC

that area and palo alto

2019-06-12 20:26:59 UTC

but look at the roads in the santa cruz mountain range

2019-06-12 20:27:42 UTC

the thing is this doesn't prove anything, I would put money on the majority of supercar owners being exactly the same there

2019-06-12 20:27:53 UTC

Idk about exactly

2019-06-12 20:27:54 UTC

they're buying for status or investment on limited runs

2019-06-12 20:27:59 UTC

but we're both talking from anecdote here

2019-06-12 20:28:14 UTC

but I will say I've seen more ferraris than any other

2019-06-12 20:28:19 UTC

and maybe lamborghinis too

2019-06-12 20:28:58 UTC

and that is the evidence, most enthusiasts buy porsche if they want the driving experience

2019-06-12 20:29:14 UTC

because porsche are probably the best at making a "fun" car

2019-06-12 20:29:22 UTC

for a good price, yeah

2019-06-12 20:29:31 UTC

but once you go up in price you can start to branch out with "fun"

2019-06-12 20:29:44 UTC

you say that but it's not really true

2019-06-12 20:29:49 UTC

hmm?

2019-06-12 20:30:13 UTC

the huracan and aventador are definitely less fun

2019-06-12 20:30:18 UTC

but they are faster

2019-06-12 20:30:26 UTC

they also sound better
