Alot of men died because of that bs...We shouldve had everyone involved executed for treason

2019-04-04 08:10:07 UTC

The M14 is the shortest lived service rifle in U.S history, we immediately shelved them as soon as we formally adopted the M16.

2019-04-04 08:10:34 UTC

I do prefer 7.62 Nato/.308 over 5.56/.223

2019-04-04 08:10:44 UTC

But as a rifle the M16 was superior

2019-04-04 08:11:15 UTC

We only pulled them back out again, because we found in out during Desert Storm that there was a niche for a semi auto .30 caliber rifle for squad level marksman.

2019-04-04 08:11:28 UTC

And even in that role, they were shit.

2019-04-04 08:11:33 UTC

I wish we had a middle ground like the .280 British...doesnt recoil like the 308 but provides alot more energy than 5.56

2019-04-04 08:11:49 UTC

I honestly think 5.56 is fine.

2019-04-04 08:12:01 UTC

AR-10 shouldve been adopted at squad level

2019-04-04 08:12:24 UTC

You know like how in ww2, youd have a squad BAR and the rest would have a Garand

2019-04-04 08:12:29 UTC

I'd rather have a lighter recoiling projectile with a higher velocity behind it.

2019-04-04 08:13:19 UTC

It's just weak AF past 300 yards

2019-04-04 08:13:23 UTC

No energy left

2019-04-04 08:13:32 UTC

By 500 its useless

2019-04-04 08:13:56 UTC

I'd rather have a lower velocity round with a better Ballistic Coefficient

2019-04-04 08:14:06 UTC

Like 6.5 grendel

2019-04-04 08:14:45 UTC

The majority of engagements are within 300 yards though.

2019-04-04 08:15:08 UTC

I know but the Grendal is still a better option

2019-04-04 08:15:29 UTC

Not much bigger than 5.56

2019-04-04 08:15:31 UTC

I disagree, I'd rather have the trajectory of 5.56.

2019-04-04 08:15:40 UTC

6.5 Grendel is a slow, slow round.

2019-04-04 08:16:05 UTC

The m14 was an excellent rifle. Good stoping power, range and accuracy

2019-04-04 08:16:37 UTC

M14 has terrible accuracy for one lol.

2019-04-04 08:17:06 UTC

2,700 ft/s vs 3,100ft/s...but 6.5 shoots a round that weighs double and has a SUPERIOR ballistic coefficient

2019-04-04 08:17:24 UTC

So the 5.56 would be flatter shooting...sub 200 yards

2019-04-04 08:17:27 UTC

😂 😂 😂 😂 😂

2019-04-04 08:17:30 UTC

Where you getting 2700? Most I've seen are 2500.

2019-04-04 08:17:55 UTC

2700 with 120grain Norma .500 bc

2019-04-04 08:18:46 UTC

1,942 ft⋅lbf  of energy

2019-04-04 08:19:40 UTC

62 grain 5.56 gives you 3,100 ft/s .290 bc

2019-04-04 08:19:43 UTC

1,325 ft⋅lbf

2019-04-04 08:20:22 UTC

@Veritas Prognostician With the war in Vietnam escalating, the new M16 seemed increasingly appropriate. Although the M14, firing the NATO 7.62mm round, was more powerful and accurate, the M16 could spread bursts of automatic fire over a wide area more rapidly than the M14. Furthermore, the M16 fired a smaller, lighter 5.56mm round, allowing soldiers to carry more ammunition into combat. Finally, Army doctrine of the early 1960s began emphasizing firepower and rapid-fire technique

2019-04-04 08:22:58 UTC

6.5 grendal gang

2019-04-04 08:23:38 UTC

When in doubt, 20mm out

2019-04-04 08:27:06 UTC

I have a 20mm, 30mm(Gau-8 round), German 37mm,American 37mm,75mm and a 105mm howitzer shell sitting in ranchhouse

2019-04-04 08:27:38 UTC

The 105 is um....Totally deactivated(not) <:pepe_smug:560207654207750154>

2019-04-04 08:28:38 UTC

I want a big ass USS Texas 14inch shell, but that would cost an ungodly sum of cash, and an 1,800 pound Shell sounds like a bitch to Transport

2019-04-04 08:29:56 UTC

Collecting big rounds is fun

2019-04-04 08:37:17 UTC

There are good collector sites out there

2019-04-04 08:38:05 UTC

I might buy an old naval 203mm and set it in the corner next to my Aquarium

2019-04-04 08:40:20 UTC

Or a 6inch shell
