in general you're probably better off with power tools if self defence is that big of a concern

as trash as they are for wood, a battery powered chainsaw would be a nasty thing used as a defence option

most laws in the EU have "reasonable force" conditions though so you're going down if you do any serious injury to a criminal unless the criminal is armed
