* does italics as well
that one is just confusing tho
```nice```
anyway back to saint tarrant
praise be
i don't think there could have been a funnier end to the sub 2 pewdiepie meme
I dont know. having a meme fucking murdered due to a massive shooting is pretty epic
``` One Man's Coup, is another Mans Revolution```
very true
explain. I gotta pea brain
Its a matter of Perspective and who wins in the end.
Rebel, Terrorist, Coup, Revolution, all buzzwords to push a narrative based on your point of view
And history is written by the winners.
one is only a terrorist when the person using the term disagrees with the ends being pursued
otherwise you're a freedom fighter, or based revolutionary
le freedum fighters
So if this action in Venuzuela fails they will forever be a "Rebel Coup"
If it succeeds it will be remembered as the "Freedom Revolution"
well its nice to know all that bs
it's basically just a restatement of the fact that history is always written by the victor
okay. it just looked off to me cause i think of a coup and a revolution as the same thing
"Coup" has a negative connotation in most peoples minds
does revolution not?
no
Not normally no
huh
cool beans
"American Revolution"
Revolution is usually connected to a Freedom Movement
yeah that sounds negative to me lol
While Coup is connected to a Forcible Power Change
word games ey
piss off, im getting better
Also "Revolutions" are usually tied to the end being a Democracy
While "Coup" is usually seen as military Coups, and end in Totalitarian Dictatorships
While reality they should be interchangeable the connotations prevent it
what about proletariat revolutions?
so its literally just optics
sound bad to me
@galesteppes It would be Bad, but they use "Revolution" to make it sound good and grow support
i guess the difference is that people will often refer to themselves as fighting for revolution, as revolutionaries
nobody wants their government takeover to be called a coup
