and yes, retaliation up to and including tactical mcnukes is justified
NAP is stupid, and ignores reality.
Its a good "Aspiration" but like Communism not rooted in basic human nature.
it also completely breaks down when you begin to think about whether you can respond to imminent threats of violence, and projecting that forward to implicitly likely future harm
because at that point many things could be considered aggression worthy of being responded to
It becomes even more broken down when you remove things like Government/Consolidation of powers
Because there is nothing "Bigger" there to enforce it.
nah dude the private military corps and international federation of independent courts is a great system
everyone will just agree to get along and totally not going to be loads of warlords and shit running around in a perpetual arms race
Sure it is...When that Private military becomes warlordism
<:makes_you_think:382980749780844554>
And that independant court gets bribed to kill you for your land
But aside from that
that wouldn't happen because.. reasons
Perfect system
"that would be too damaging to their reputation, and insurance companies wouldn't deal with them"
Kinda like "Communism would work if implimented right......and if there wasn't scarcity"
Or humans
Prolly more the latter
Humans are the problem
hives are all typically comprised of direct genetic relatives, like a family
There are no true hive minds...
Technically speaking...Even among colony creatures they still have some independance.
`Many insect species, including ants and bees, work together in colonies, and their cooperative behavior determines the survival of the entire group. This type of interaction has been likened to that of a single organism, with each individual in a colony acting like a cell in the body, giving rise to the term "superorganism."`
Yes cooperative. But they are all individuals still and individually problem solve ect.
Their communication and goals are just clearer
Kinda helps that only queens and elates breed
individual maybe, but not unique individuals
all the workers in a hive are genetically very similar, probably almost identical
Less worry about propogation
Well unique by what metric? Biologically sure, cause they are spawned from the same genetic code repeatedly. However 2 ants for instance facing the same issue will come to different results on overcoming it. I get the meaning there and it's true you could liken it to a super organism. But not what I was getting at.
Hive mind is very particular to where all thoughts are one, and all controlled from one point. Ants while close, still break that mold, though slightly.
Anywho off to bed.

yeah
i think it's more that they appear to act as one, because the genetic code is all so sameish they respond to the stimuli the same way
there's no command structure really standing over them making demands and such
in humans we can achieve a similar result either through reasoned application of some principle, or by an extremely complex hierarchy of command
Ok that's aggression
That's destruction of muh property
