Yeah for the most part medical is important
I was thinking more of Computer Sciences
Really
How do you expect to work as a computer scientist if you know fuck all about computers?
?
You said they don't care about degrees
You don't have to go to college to learn coding
You don't just learn coding :V
Why not?
Because there's more to a computer than code
I imagine you'd learn how the fucking thing works in the first place
What all the parts do etc
Probably how to fix them or something
All of that can be learned on your own
Well in theory so can anything else
Not saying it's easy cuz it's very hard
Yeh so for the more difficult subjects it's probably better to get a degree
Where you'll have experts teaching you
Rather than having to learn everything by yourself
Again go to any company, if you're legit and know your shit (You can prove it with previous projects or just your experience working jobs), the last thing they ask is a degree.
Someone with actual experience in the field vs someone with a piece of paper
Not even a decision
You're saying it like a degree is just a piece of paper
A degree **is** experience
Not saying degrees don't help
You're overstating the difference way too much
Both are experience
No working a real job making money *is* experience
I disagree and so so the people doing the hiring <:ohsargon:451135765368274954>
Well the people doing the hiring are retarded
I don't think Valve is retarded
Or any tech company
Or the CIA
Imo if you have actual work experience you have mostly concentrated knowledge
They want the best of the best
As in you only know the stuff you need to do that job
But with a degree or just any general education
You have more broad knowledge
And you can learn new things quicker
Cuz you probably already know the basics
