like the most normal way to treat a PTSD have been to have a speak about it therapy session . it works wonders for females but the data shows it makes it even worse for men. so bad that you have an increased risk of killing yourself after a session as a male

2019-03-25 02:48:44 UTC

soldiers with ptsd react differently to therapy than civilians, especially marines as they've been brainwashed to think they are devil dogs

2019-03-25 02:49:56 UTC

yea that dont help on top of that it turn out making soldiers remember such horrible trauma does not help at all

2019-03-25 02:50:06 UTC

So... this is bad.

I just tried to find any sort of line chart showing mental illness rates for ANY sort of time period on google images

2019-03-25 02:50:16 UTC

Nothing

2019-03-25 02:51:48 UTC

mood disorders aren't generally considered mental illness anyway, it's reserved more for schizophrenia and psychosis. people with really fucked up minds

2019-03-25 02:52:19 UTC

I still want to track that as well

2019-03-25 02:52:20 UTC

or brains, it's considered more a neural condition these days

2019-03-25 02:53:26 UTC

schizophrenia needs a genetic disposition to form and probably some earth shattering trauma like incest etc.

2019-03-25 02:56:13 UTC

@Nordhand No, because I wanted to track it against US church attendance

2019-03-25 02:57:21 UTC

you think church people are the loony toons or opposite?

2019-03-25 02:57:30 UTC

The opposite

2019-03-25 02:57:48 UTC

I have a feeling mental distress has gone up as church attendance has gone down

2019-03-25 02:57:50 UTC

religion can't be considered a mental illness due to it being buried so deep in our collective psyche. it's been only 100-200 years that atheism has even been a thing.

2019-03-25 02:58:07 UTC

oh, that's different naturally

2019-03-25 02:59:00 UTC

you can have a case for that as church people do have a better family structure then atheists type of people, and a stable family structure is linked to mental wellbeing

2019-03-25 02:59:52 UTC

There's the nihlism associated with a lack of spirituality as well

2019-03-25 03:00:23 UTC

as a basis yeah, not that churchy people are any better humans. those types generally have repressed sexualities which can lead to marital woes.

2019-03-25 03:00:53 UTC

Well, now we're getting into the weeds about Christian denominations

2019-03-25 03:01:56 UTC

sure, quakers seem to handle everything better imo. catholics probably worst due to the whole confessional set up

2019-03-25 03:02:08 UTC

oof

2019-03-25 03:02:20 UTC

Quakers are the reason we have Progressivism

2019-03-25 03:02:31 UTC

So, no

2019-03-25 03:02:44 UTC

I'd argue the opposite

2019-03-25 03:03:30 UTC

But that's a discussion for another time

2019-03-25 03:04:03 UTC

perhaps, i've been babtized lutheran but been relatively agnostic the last 30 years or so

2019-03-25 03:04:57 UTC

i know nothing of quakers except what has been portrayed in tv and to me it really seemed appealing. other denominations seem to take everything way too seriously where as quakers just meditate during their 'sermons'

2019-03-25 03:07:14 UTC

@TwinVickers Check this book out.

It talks about the "Quaker question" as I put it

https://www.unqualified-reservations.org/2008/04/open-letter-to-open-minded-progressives/

2019-03-25 03:07:41 UTC

I'm not suggesting there's an elaborate conspiracy by Quakers or anything

2019-03-25 03:08:23 UTC

But their ideological foundations have had a huge impact in American history, and the roots of Progressivism and international interventionism can be traced to it quite easily

2019-03-25 03:10:06 UTC

fair enough, i haven't really delved that deep into it. to me it seems that the message in the new testament has been perverted into something very different. it seems christians are very eager to judge their fellow man rather than try to understand and love

2019-03-25 03:10:34 UTC

Fair enough, I guess

2019-03-25 03:10:48 UTC

Maybe a little bit of column A and B

2019-03-25 03:13:26 UTC

i'm not talking about newboro babtist either, just the general feel when i read what religious people write online. then again it is online and you really have to take everything with a grain of salt you reed online. especially social media.

2019-03-25 03:13:43 UTC

reed, i'm typing phonetically it seems

2019-03-25 03:13:56 UTC

Westboro lol

2019-03-25 03:14:28 UTC

Yeah, I just found out that some Christians don't take a literal view of the Bible, in the past 2 years.

2019-03-25 03:15:19 UTC

I went 24 years thinking a majority of Christians were like Evangelicals and Young Earth Creationists

2019-03-25 03:20:53 UTC

i'm really not that well versed in christian denominations. i have a basic understanding what makes a catholic person different from a mormon or a protestant
