@Fitzydog it wasnt even the better than NASA launch. The fact they have a working rocket retrieval system aka it lands even on a drone ship, for reuse puts them way ahead of the curve. Which will make it hard for most of the others to compete with that.

@Legiondude the issue I have I'd NASA has become to overweighter with non space based things. Which was their folly in the obama years. He forced the budget to shift from space to terran endeavors. Ie Climate Science. When they shouldnt be dealing with that.

2019-10-23 06:56:58 UTC

Oh ffs

2019-10-23 07:05:32 UTC

Isnโ€™t nasa national air and space?

"This is fine, This is fine" -I slowly insist as I transform into a Warhawk

2019-10-23 07:05:58 UTC

I was already there ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

@Antiboom only as they are partnered with the Air Force (who is also air and space) They were never meant to deal with Air apart from launches and landings. NOAA (and before them USCGS and Weather Bureau) were meant for on earth scientific study.

Aeronautic

2019-10-23 07:15:31 UTC

Thatโ€™s what the first A is

2019-10-23 07:15:34 UTC

Thatโ€™s why I was confused

2019-10-23 07:15:39 UTC

Yea.

2019-10-23 07:15:49 UTC

They also do super high velocity/experimental atmospheric craft research

2019-10-23 07:16:15 UTC

"Aeronautics is the science or art involved with the study, design, and manufacturing of air flight capable machines, and the techniques of operating aircraft and rockets within the atmosphere.ย "

2019-10-23 07:16:43 UTC

Still doesnt mean they are meant to do climate change research, or anything like that

2019-10-23 07:17:04 UTC

Agreed

2019-10-23 07:17:41 UTC

And most high speed aircraft research these days is done either privately, or militarily. NASA hasnt been on the lead in that field in some time.

2019-10-23 07:20:03 UTC

Are they not currently doing scramjet research?

2019-10-23 07:20:10 UTC

Last I checked they were still in the lead there

2019-10-23 07:49:40 UTC

Most up to date info of anything from the scramjet research was 2004. When they had a successful demonstration. After that nothing.

2019-10-23 07:50:34 UTC

It says they are "Still conducting experimentation" but NASA keeps all projects for the most part "open" even if funding was cut down to "maintenance" levels for them.

2019-10-23 07:52:34 UTC

Thought there was a test flight in like 2013

2019-10-23 07:54:38 UTC

Naw last one listed was 2004. In March. But to put it in perspective they still have "Space Shuttle" listed as one of their missions. And we decommissioned our last one years ago. Our astronauts ride other countries shuttles now.

One of the questions in here is *Why/how does data-driven processes prevent liberation?*

and... I think the SJW answer to it is in a paper I have to take next year ๐Ÿ™ƒ
