That is, if a font file is missing a glyph, use a fallback font to render it?
I found the font pack 'Noto' from google that is updated to the current unicode and emoji packs
At least that's how it works on the Unix world, with fontconfig. We usually have individual fonts for each language.
windows refuses to even acknowledge its installed
LOL
I installed *72* fucking fonts, and none of them show up as an option
smh
Maybe you need to reboot?
this is like try number 7 lol
i have 148 additional ones. 25 of them are actually licensed for free use. 😄
18 of them are questionable nature - noveau Ibm and all the ibm bios replica ones
```sh
$ du -sh /usr/share/fonts
466M /usr/share/fonts
```
At some point, it's just annoying to have too many fonts.
or joystix which should be legal, but it's also made 1:1 to referrence nintendo font (found in devkit of nes)
I wish font selectors could adapt, having categories or something.
Oh yeah.
Serif, and sans sections
it becomes a pain when you just need that "bitmap font, 10 px native size, frequency of use - low"
The one from Splatoon.
@DanielKO whenever i see logo fonts used for information pages - something dies inside me little by little
Yeah, at least in Splatoon 2 they switched to a simpler font.
aka - actually hired typographer
or graphics designer which had better taste in fonts
Splatoon 1 has two fonts: Paintball and some regular Sans font.
I wish they'd use the Sans font for all the verbose text.
this is one of my favorite fonts https://www.dafont.com/timeburner.font it's very light and detail compression is good
it also partially calls out to art deco, which is always a plus
This is the Splatoon 2 font.
yeah this is much better
It's crap like this that makes me dislike Silicon Valley.
It's a bunch of autists running the show, who can't agree on anything close to a standardization, even after 30 years
I don't know, Splatoon 2 font looks too irregular still.
Yeah, a bit, but it's still leagues ahead splatoon 1 crap
@DanielKO also check this out - if you ever need to think about using comic sans - try good dog instead. it's still a goofy font. but looks better https://www.dafont.com/good-dog.font
I like it
I remember back on the old Palm Pilots, you could draw with the stylus your own font characters, and then use them as if it's your own handwriting
it's perfect for kids games also, in fact - a proto-flash game (in a sense that it's structured like an edutament flash game, only before macromedia projector) for windows 3.1 used it and it was fine
wish i could recall the name
