well that is a field where talent is not a requirement
In fact it's a hindrance
Agreed.
Talent implies a hierarchy of skills
We cant have that
Oh God, I could be a professor at this rate
or at least an assisted professor in social studies
All professors are assisted.
They wouldn't get anything done without TAs.

i tried to get into mathematics academia word. it's uber competitive and i'm just not intelligent enough so i have given up for now.
Don't give up if you like it.
thanks
80% is sticking with it while everyone hates it.
You already have a huge edge over others if you like it.
#motivation
motivation mondayz
Often times the learning curve is very steep, too, so once you get it you have a huge edge over others.
if you're capable then yes 80% of the rest is sticking with it 😂
It took me hours to understand the kernel trick and then it just clicked suddenly when I went for a walk.
ML algorithms?
Yes.
It was all a mystery to me when I started.
I thought I'd never learn it.
ah yes, i've read a bit about gaussian machine learning stuff
not much though
tough subject
It's good when it's tough. It's job security, which is probably also why people try to make it look hard.
But I want more people to get into it.
That's why I try to make it look easy.
I want AI to advance.
i'm trying to work on a project at the moment. hard to keep the motivation up, but i figure if i keep working on 'productive' things, one day something might click and it'll be worthwhile
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I do what I like now.
if not, learning can be fun anyway
yup
I have given up on becoming good.
And I have never been more successful at it.
Seriously. I don't know anyone else who is as mediocre as I am.
