Being better is a dumb statement when describing an individuals attributes

2019-04-16 00:19:37 UTC

in <#380751840750469125>

2019-04-16 00:19:38 UTC

~~@Fitzydog Nah, I'm better then all you fags~~

2019-04-16 00:19:41 UTC

@The Watcher Is it? Who's to say that YOU are the best at *something*?

2019-04-16 00:20:32 UTC

I need to verify from my phone to text in Athens

2019-04-16 00:20:34 UTC

👀

2019-04-16 00:20:47 UTC

Anyone have a link?

Being better is subjective, but it’s possible to criticize someone but usually I try not to feel superior since it can lead to ignorance and also often you’re opposers will often show you your faults unless it’s the left in which case it’s slander

2019-04-16 00:21:35 UTC

To say you are "better" entails that you are objectively greater than them in all or most attributes @Fitzydog

2019-04-16 00:21:45 UTC

I wouldn't rape

2019-04-16 00:21:47 UTC

BUT

2019-04-16 00:21:49 UTC

@The Watcher I have made no claims about myself

2019-04-16 00:22:01 UTC

I'm not saying that either

2019-04-16 00:22:11 UTC

I don't like the idea of someone being better then me

2019-04-16 00:22:12 UTC

But I agree with that statement

2019-04-16 00:22:35 UTC

Depends on how you define “better”

2019-04-16 00:22:35 UTC

There are people who are objectively more competent than you are at everything

2019-04-16 00:22:38 UTC

Some people can DO things better than you

2019-04-16 00:22:55 UTC

or even have "better" morals

2019-04-16 00:23:16 UTC

Like I think competent is better then using better to define someone who’s “better”

2019-04-16 00:23:28 UTC

Basically, I'm asking you "Do you believe in competence heirarchies, and acknowledge their importance?"

2019-04-16 00:23:38 UTC

but its impossible for someone to be competent in all things

2019-04-16 00:23:52 UTC

@The Watcher I said better than YOU

2019-04-16 00:24:27 UTC

Nah bitch

2019-04-16 00:24:29 UTC

That depends what u mean in what contest

2019-04-16 00:24:29 UTC

I'm better

2019-04-16 00:24:42 UTC

I have my pp cut

2019-04-16 00:24:44 UTC

so im better

2019-04-16 00:24:46 UTC

<:HonkHonk:566814473646768128>

2019-04-16 00:25:07 UTC

See what I mean? A speech.

This is all a disagreement of baseline philosophies

2019-04-16 00:25:12 UTC

Competence hierarchies founded on merit aren’t bad but they also allow disproportionate amount of representation (a observation but I don’t take the left leaning stance on it since it leads into quotas or the whole thing with affirmative action)

2019-04-16 00:25:28 UTC

If you are saying that I'm better at running a marathon than an Olympian then no

2019-04-16 00:25:31 UTC

I'm not saying your position is wrong, but I disagree

2019-04-16 00:25:53 UTC

This is the divide between left and right

2019-04-16 00:25:57 UTC

Why cant I view dank memes anymore here?

2019-04-16 00:26:04 UTC

Why wouldn’t we want competent people though who have merit to be in the position they are in?
