Earlier when I went to see if the church still owns it. I googled, "Does Notre Dam belong to..." and it popped up with "disney"
<:what:382980756139409409>
It belongs to the French state.
In the search bar
dumbass people think it belongs to disney? <:shap:497652686603288576>
@Deleted User nope looked it up. Still belongs to the church, and they still hold Sunday services and use it as the seat of the archbishop of france.
I must have either misread the article on it or misremembered.
Let me look that up again.
The Gov does donate to it for renovations and deemed it a national historic site.
But the church still owns it.
The very few places the church gives up, they tend to remove their relics.
```Under a 1905 law, Notre-Dame de Paris is one of 70 churches in Paris built before that year which are owned by the French state. While the building itself is owned by the state, the Catholic Church is the designated beneficiary, having the exclusive right to use it for religious purposes in perpetuity. The archdiocese is responsible for paying the employees, for security, heating and cleaning, and for ensuring that the cathedral is open free to visitors. The archdiocese does not receive subsidies from the French state.```
Am I misreading that?
To me this sounds as if the church itself belongs to France, but the church can use it.
