Something like Reaper is easier to learn, but not quite as stable
You mean it crashes?
yes, Samplitude is the best for not crashing
and it has the best midi editing too
That's kind of sad. You'd think they would have that figured out after 27 years.
sorry - no - Samplitude does not crash... the others do
I never had Ableton or Cubase crash on me.
Well, when I made a VST I think I crashed the VST host, but that's it.
Ah, right. I understood you, but I guess I worded that weirdly.
Good to hear, I avoided them because people I knew said they still crashed when working on large projects
Many of the big DAWs have been around for decades.
It's sad if they still have stability issues.
Oh, I don't know about large projects.
I often take chiptunes and MIDI dumps from old games
I don't think those are large, though.
I should try Samplitude, though.
From what I hear (never tried it) AVID's pro tools crashes fairly regularly on people - it's pretty much the most expensive software on the market and yet people always complain
If it's good, I'm sure they have a trial.
wtf
If you pay hundreds of dollars for an application you at least don't want it to crash.
That would be horrible to have that crash.
BTW< someone was talking of LED lights
Yes... Magix put it on sale once a year for silly money, although I bought Samplitude before I knew that
yea, at that level, they better be stable
Have you ever used DMX for stage performances?
It's this interface that kind of looks like MIDI, but it's used to control lighting and lasers and so forth
I've always played an instrument when live
Wait, what instrument? So no DAW or instrument through DAW?
i'm a noob, so sorry if i mix up terms
I have seen DJs use Ableton a lot.
Never seemed to crash on them.
no worries - I used to be a session drummer, but I'm not in the scene anymore - I use Samplitude to record me playing drum track and use VST's for the rest of the "band"... so that can mean a lot of midi tracks, which is where Samplitude's stability comes into play.
Ah.
VSTs are neat.
I wish I didn't suck at music, though.
I don't think I could arrange a lot of tracks.
but to give you an example - I bought Samplitude 4 for around $600... it went on sale for around $130 a couple of months later on cyber Monday or whatever they call it
so I would recommend checking it out leading up to the Thanksgiving/cyber Monday sale period
Yes, good idea.
I usually stop checking prices after I boy something.
