im actually proud to be one of the last acceptable generation
Personally for me, I think the smoother framerate and animation makes it a bit easier for me to read.
sonic 2 runs at 60fps
Maybe it's because I'm too used to running my emulators on shit computers, but old games never stay solidly at 60fps.
i doubt they even have more animation frames and if they do they shouldnt
some people might time the game based on them
if you add more, thats wierd
they have to emulate the hardware slowdown of all those rings falling, or the game will be too different
and if they dont emulate the scrolling being unable to keep up with Sonic in ChemPlant, that will look like pussy shit

im no fan of unnecessary slowdowns but many games worked it into the mechanics like Sonic does
theyve done that since Space Invaders
Well to be fair, many were more for hardware inadequacies than gameplay itself. Again, ChemPlant was that example.
