They made sure America was not and could not be a democracy.

2019-09-06 01:33:57 UTC

oh, well maybe you're going by 18th century language

2019-09-06 01:34:14 UTC

but by modern parlance, there's different kinds of democracy

2019-09-06 01:34:20 UTC

the oldest kind is direct democracy

2019-09-06 01:34:22 UTC

athenian democracy

2019-09-06 01:34:34 UTC

which you have to specifically cite so that people know what you mean

2019-09-06 01:36:29 UTC

in the 18th century, most countries were monarchies, they only knew about ancient greek democracy, and the italian city states weren'

2019-09-06 01:36:34 UTC

really democracies by modern definition either

2019-09-06 01:36:50 UTC

but they were republics, so that's different - and in 18th century, they thought of it as different too

2019-09-06 01:37:04 UTC

even so, the definition of democracy has stretched in modern times, and modern language understands it as such

2019-09-06 01:37:16 UTC

you can't keep using old language

2019-09-06 01:37:23 UTC

just because you're conservative

2019-09-06 01:37:31 UTC

things change regardless

2019-09-06 01:37:53 UTC

Democracy comes from latin.
Demos Kraten
=People To Rule
The rule of the people.

2019-09-06 01:38:17 UTC

its a vague and ecompassing definition

2019-09-06 01:38:20 UTC

like nation state

2019-09-06 01:38:22 UTC

or govt

2019-09-06 01:38:44 UTC

Sksksksksks and i oop

2019-09-06 01:38:50 UTC

good

2019-09-06 01:41:17 UTC

Based

2019-09-06 01:41:43 UTC

The important thing is that is enough people could be convinced to want something they could take anything away from people for example.

Republic is about having a procedure after the vote to help make it a fairer system less susceptible to any type of tyranny.

2019-09-06 01:42:44 UTC

Really a best of three or something would probably be the best.

2019-09-06 01:42:49 UTC

i know there's rules and restrictions

2019-09-06 01:43:02 UTC

direct, or absolute democracy isn't the system of most countries

2019-09-06 01:43:19 UTC

a country isn't only defined as democratic

2019-09-06 01:43:33 UTC

Yes but it can always become absolute, this is a problem.

2019-09-06 01:43:41 UTC

usually in modern language, when they say "We need more democracy" they are usually talking about giving more voice for the people

2019-09-06 01:44:02 UTC

which I'm fine - of course, it depends on context, eg. how they go about it

2019-09-06 01:44:17 UTC

I'd say we need more Republic.

2019-09-06 01:44:29 UTC

more stasis?

2019-09-06 01:44:37 UTC

more resistance to change?

2019-09-06 01:44:40 UTC

how about lowering the govt budget

2019-09-06 01:44:41 UTC

lol

2019-09-06 01:44:56 UTC

a high govt budget is not capitalism btw

2019-09-06 01:45:00 UTC

i dunno where you got that idea

2019-09-06 01:46:09 UTC

No I don't agree with the Fedral system and the Federal Reserve killing the Republic and proper Competitive Free Enterprise.

2019-09-06 01:46:59 UTC

by raising inflation

2019-09-06 01:47:02 UTC

The Federal Reserve is a cancer on the American Republic.
