I will say though, ironically, one of the few things social psychologists have produced that is rigorous is the most hated by the left, who like to use their stodgy research.
That thing is IQ tests.
They have excellent predictive capability.
Not really, those 4 psychologists thought I was a genius or some shit.
Did they do an IQ test?
Several, at least a couple each one.
They administered two IQ tests per month?
Not that often, also most of the ones I did were fairly lengthy.
OH
A couple for each therapist, I see.
You realise that it is possible to have a high IQ and be a dysfunctional loser at the same time, right?
One made me take an IQ test that was based on answering stuff correctly in a row (all questions kept getting harder). He was all like "I have your files so I expect this will take us 2 sessions", we went on for like 3 and a half.
I'm living proof of that, Ebow.
I mean, having a high IQ makes LOADS of things easier, but you can still fuck it all up.
I have a weird memory. I mostly remember things at random. It doesn't really matter whether I try to memorize it or not.
@Mr Strontium Really, no one asked you to join the humblebrag internet high IQ club. :P
I have a fuckton of useless facts in my brain... but I was also really bad at studying.
lol
I never tried to remember those facts, it just happened. Something decides for me what should be "stored".
"Yes, I am such a loooooser with a high IQ, got a high IQ and I still manage to fuck shit up, such a loser amirite giys? :D"
I am not saying you are lying. (Although you are someone claiming to have a high IQ on the internet, so chances aren't exactly bad that you are.)
I'm just saying that your humblebrag has fooled precisely no one, it's very obvious. :P
It was also me being a smart ass.
It's more like self-deprecation in a way.
"I had it all and I fucked it up" - @Mr Strontium.
I actually was making fun of myself.
People who have high IQ's rarely bring up their IQ.
I am beginning to think that you aren't skeptical of the (very well established) predictive power of IQ tests at all, and were just using that earlier statement as a humblebrag. I'm onto you @druiz!
I'm actually very skeptical because the things examined in most tests are rather stupid shit.
:P
Sorry I blew your cover @druiz
It's not actually useful stuff, it's just concepts that someone MIGHT use... except not really.
Progressive matrices are VERY irrelevant to everyday life.
Indeed, that is what makes them such a good IQ test.
I remember those "complete the sequence" crap, memorizing text and numbers, lexicon quiz... You're not smart, you just have mostly useless skills.
Because almost no one has any experience with them, they are novel to test takers.
Except they aren't supposed to be skills that you have learnt, what is actually being measured is your ability to tackle novel problems.
I could compare IQ tests to something like the NFL Combine (those physical tests NFL rookies have to take).
Your overall score in both things has little to no correlation to your actual performance.
lol
God, I fucking suck at prepositions.
Absolutely false in the case of IQ tests.
