US troops would storm in, rescue the kidnapped that were still alive, and shoot everyone else.

Their only hope at not being slaughtered(If they want to go round kidnapping and raping people) is perfect secrecy.

They'd have to have resources, sophisticated tech capability and opsec for that.

Part of the point of this story is to convey just how isolated that part of the country is. It is a dense forest, on difficult terrain. Traversing it is one of the few things they're good at.

Part of the idea is there are still parts of the Unites States, probably closer to where you are right now that you think. Are still so isolated that you could pretty much get away with anything if you manage to keep it low key enough.

Now too be fair. You have to have a pretty high IQ to understand my writing...

And I'm saying the same thing I was earlier, organised kidnap AND detainment is not sustainable unless you have VERY good opsec, even then it might not be.

For this to work you have to:

1) Tone down the shit that brings down the heat.

2) Increase the capacity to avoid said heat.

Given how severely unviable it is, almost certainly both.
