@salazam Whats happening Mr. Biggles

2019-05-20 01:05:04 UTC

nada mucha biga brutha, how's the bike running?

2019-05-20 01:06:21 UTC

She's having fuel issues. I figure she just needs a tune up. Clean the carbs, that whole schtick.

2019-05-20 01:10:16 UTC

Poopsville. Good ol carbs!

2019-05-20 01:10:44 UTC

It is what it is. I'm not too worried, I just gotta find time.

2019-05-20 01:11:09 UTC

I used to think fuel injection and computers were beta.... till I plugged an OBDII monitor into my truck

2019-05-20 01:12:07 UTC

It was one of them fancy Autel's... mang! Seeing the stats from all the monitors blew my pipes!

2019-05-20 01:12:10 UTC

I'm torn. On the one hand I love the simplicity of old tech (carbs e.t.c.), but on the other hand the reliability, and efficiency of new tech is wild.

2019-05-20 01:12:55 UTC

That was one of my favorite parts of tech school. The data is neat.

2019-05-20 01:13:42 UTC

That's how I feel about electric as well.... but I'll always love the carbs

2019-05-20 01:14:10 UTC

But man... VW busted the pike's peak world record in a battery car

2019-05-20 01:14:22 UTC

It's only gonna keep getting better

2019-05-20 01:15:48 UTC

Electric cars are cool because all the power is available instantly, if wanted. No need to worry about Torque/Horsepower curves. I sure do like the sound of an engine, though.

2019-05-20 01:16:49 UTC

Exactly... nothing like the firebreathing chest rumbling pounding of pistons

2019-05-20 01:17:24 UTC

The growl of the exhaust.

2019-05-20 01:17:33 UTC

I went to Nascar a few months back... I can't imagine watching them go around the track all silent BOORIINNGGG!

2019-05-20 01:19:20 UTC

I went to a dirt track race awhile ago. The feeling in your chest as the cars go by is like no other. I grew up near Heartland Park. They're known amongst those in professional drag racing. I love the sound, man.

2019-05-20 01:20:06 UTC

Or the banshee scream of MotoGP or F1!

2019-05-20 01:22:41 UTC

It'll eventually switch tho, if electric takes over. I personally am looking forward to a bunch of self-driving cars parting out of my way like the red sea as I through them on my racer

2019-05-20 01:23:14 UTC

Lmao. No more left lane lingering with self driving cars.

2019-05-20 01:23:45 UTC

It's gotta be the future. Ppl can't drive for shit nowadays

2019-05-20 01:24:40 UTC

People have never been able to. I'm weary of them, though. They'll probably use them as a way to track folks.

2019-05-20 01:25:05 UTC

Also, unless I'm mistaken... a carburetored bike will withstand an emp blast

2019-05-20 01:26:42 UTC

Carburated vehicles will.

2019-05-20 01:27:04 UTC

You can start an old school vehicle with the points distributor too.

2019-05-20 01:27:07 UTC

they might skip a beat or so if it interferes with the ignition coil

2019-05-20 01:33:19 UTC

A misfire, though, doesn't render a vehicle unusable.

2019-05-20 01:35:28 UTC

So one could technically mount an emp on a carbureted machine and theoretically disable any electric or electronically controlled engines in it's vicinity. Hmm...

2019-05-20 01:37:16 UTC

You'd definitely need to test it, but theoretically, yes.

2019-05-20 01:37:54 UTC

Reason number 98 to keep a carbureted vehicle around when the future happens!

2019-05-20 01:38:41 UTC

Are you familiar with ethanol as a fuel?

2019-05-20 01:39:24 UTC

To a degree. So far it's used as an additive. Unfortunately, it is incredibly rough on rubber seals.

2019-05-20 01:43:13 UTC

I heard it's got a higher compression/combustion ratio (whatever the equivalent to octane is in alcohol) but is less efficient

2019-05-20 01:44:28 UTC

I wouldn't be surprised. Methanol/Ethanol are a large component of race fuel.

2019-05-20 01:44:37 UTC

I thought about switching to teflon fuel lines and seals when I got all excited about the ability to make mash and distill it to make my own fuel

2019-05-20 01:45:57 UTC

But I would need acres of cornfields or fruit orchards for that to be feasible.

2019-05-20 01:46:39 UTC

It'd be a hell of an undertaking. You can use used cooking oil to make diesel.

2019-05-20 01:47:03 UTC

I was just apocalypse prepping in my mind

2019-05-20 01:47:16 UTC

since I don't know how to make gasoline

2019-05-20 01:49:27 UTC

Unfortunately, hand tools and walking are gonna be the key.

2019-05-20 01:51:12 UTC

no way, with all our knowledge? It'll be like when you take something apart, the first time it takes forever to put it back together but after that it gets easier each time
