i'll get better

2019-10-04 04:51:40 UTC

i'm just not good at listening

2019-10-04 05:49:11 UTC

@Mr. Badger how am i? Not good.

2019-10-04 05:58:47 UTC

so getting to know yourself isn't just doing the silent prayer?

2019-10-04 06:03:02 UTC

You will figure that out for yourself eventually. Other people like me will just try to fool and manipulate you.

2019-10-04 06:04:14 UTC

If people see weakness, they will instinctively take advantage.

2019-10-04 06:05:18 UTC

Conversely, displaying strength at the wrong time shows the need of approval sometimes.

2019-10-04 06:05:58 UTC

If you need the approval of others, then they are your God.

2019-10-04 06:06:49 UTC

That said, if you serve God, others may naturally approve, but if not, don't worry about it.

2019-10-04 06:08:38 UTC

To chase approval is a waste of time because if you get that kind of approval, its like giving others power over you.

2019-10-04 06:09:43 UTC

If you need advice, maybe rather ask the ancestors. They wrote copious holy scriptures.

2019-10-04 06:11:59 UTC

I could think i am giving good advice, but i could be unconsciously trying to sabotage.

2019-10-04 06:26:48 UTC

I tried to keep writing but Discord put me on slow mode

2019-10-04 06:28:09 UTC

Got a suggestion to add to my Amazon list of books I'll probably never read?

2019-10-04 06:28:25 UTC

Like ancestral wisdom wise

2019-10-04 06:29:22 UTC

The translations differ wildly

2019-10-04 06:30:49 UTC

I will say Bhagavad Gita, someone else would say the King James Bible, or perhaps the collected works of Blake

2019-10-04 06:31:16 UTC

Have you heard of the lessons of history by will Durant?

2019-10-04 06:31:27 UTC

No

2019-10-04 06:33:41 UTC

William Blake?

2019-10-04 06:33:56 UTC

Yeah

2019-10-04 06:34:33 UTC

Sounds like a radical liberal according to the discription

2019-10-04 06:35:08 UTC

Hm well he was married and believed in God

2019-10-04 06:36:05 UTC

Hm probably was a free thinker, i havent read much by him,

2019-10-04 06:36:32 UTC

Im told Meditations by Marcus Aurelius is good

2019-10-04 06:36:54 UTC

Stoicism

2019-10-04 06:37:38 UTC

2019-10-04 06:37:48 UTC

Already own it

2019-10-04 06:37:57 UTC

Guess I could give it a read

2019-10-04 06:43:30 UTC

Bingo

2019-10-04 06:45:47 UTC

Blake was on another level than just a liberal, he was on the level of prophet. Good or Evil i dont know, but at least he believed in Jesus and God and seems to be in love with spirit https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerusalem_The_Emanation_of_the_Giant_Albion

2019-10-04 06:49:56 UTC

Is this like don Quixote?

2019-10-04 06:49:58 UTC

Ah but as for advice, maybe not

2019-10-04 06:50:37 UTC

Blake seems to be trying to illustrate the ineffable

2019-10-04 06:50:44 UTC

Its artsy

2019-10-04 06:51:05 UTC

To say what cant be said

2019-10-04 06:51:26 UTC

Maybe one day

2019-10-04 06:53:34 UTC

The Gita is rather dope. Found it at Airborne school in the 1990s, looked at it for a half an hour. Thought it was weird, put it down. Now its dope though. Just a dude having an existential crisis and God is answering all his questions.

2019-10-04 06:55:52 UTC

The issue is translations. The one the hare Krishnas sell is fine, but they have a personal agenda to promote their brand. There are translations that are more fair out there.

2019-10-04 06:56:18 UTC

Plenty on amazon

2019-10-04 06:57:22 UTC

As long as it has the original sanskrit and transliteration you can look at that to infer the meaning if the translation doesnt sit right.
