that's in part why I want a new computer: my current computer probably isn't going to be able to handle the load of running Skype and OBS simultaneously
i've never tried the other OBS forks, but i like the studio feature in OG OBS
I was having problems with OBS before I added more RAM and bought an SSD
and now I'm having problems again
I can't window stream properly anymore, for example
you'll notice whenever I'm showing the browser on a stream that it freezes or turns black sometimes
the computer i used for that call was a 2011 dell desktop with an i3 and 4 GB of RAM but something that helps lower the CPU usage is i installed a video card with NVENC support so the CPU does not encode the video
software encoding is a dog
that's because I have to have the browser window front and center in order for it to work, meaning I can't show something on the browser AND look at chat/Super Chats/Streamlabs tips at the same time
that started happening in the past month
if you still use Win7 having an aero glass theme with the see through windows makes OBS work a lot better
I'm on Win10
good then it should always work for everything
this is a Win7 laptop that was refurbished and upgraded to Win10 before I bought it
also people keep asking me to stream more modern games
but my computer can't stream anything newer than 2010
the only other thing i could suggest is make sure it has newest video drivers
I found this out the hard way when I tried to stream Deus Ex: Human Revolution a year ago
I'm gonna figure out a way to get a new comp in the next month
I need a second one anyway; when this computer broke a year and a half ago, I was screwed for a week
spent a lot of time drinking with friends or reading books
yeah i brought a backup couple of older laptops with me when i moved
since i couldn't bring all my stuff with me right away
I did have four laptops with me when I lived in the States, but I left the older ones behind because I could only bring so much stuff
and two of those laptops were partially broken and the third was a Macbook that was so old and slow it wouldn't run any modern software
moving to another country would be difficult for me i have too much shit i don't want to part with 😃
one had a broken keyboard, the other had a completely fried keyboard, defective WiFi controller, and failing hard drive
Reminder that the reason Richard Spencer was banned from entering Poland (and by extension the entire E.U.) in 2017 was because he was going to give a speech to this group. https://www.timesofisrael.com/poland-bans-neo-nazi-group-filmed-celebrating-hitlers-birthday/
If you want to see more modern games streamed on Matt's channels, send him some shekels so he can upgrade his PC.

@mattforney Just sent you another BTC donation.
@SpiceWeasel muchas gracias
I have an AMD Ryzen gaming desktop. My old laptop crapped out a couple weeks ago. Managed to pick up an open box Lenovo from Best Buy that was mis-marked so I got it for essentially half off new.
Just had to upgrade the stock hard drive to an SSD, which is cheap as hell nowadays.
yeah the new SSD I bought for this computer cost about $90 IIRC
it's 480 GB, a minor annoyance since my old HDD was 750 GB
but larger SSDs are still pretty expensive: a 960 GB SSD would have cost me around $300
Yikes. You can get some 1 TB drives for about $85 now, though I have to imagine prices where you are are much higher.
yeah, selection isn't great
there are probably some generic SSDs that are cheaper, but if I don't recognize the brand I'm not risking it
