doesn't say a dam thing about power generation tho
we can't get everything we need from solar
i read this article that sparks the imagination
yeah no way, but they prob have a method they are unable to disclose as of yet
just one paragraph, but it said that scientists were speculating that they might get solar power into the 90+% range
by making the cells emit light at the same time
if that hold up, it would be the primo choice for space, and the moon could start to look really awesome 😛
well that would explain illuminating disc craft
lol hoaxes explain that too 😛
current solar cells only receive and transmit over infra-red spectrum...not full spectrum
yeah thats why most solar cells are also thermal
double up on power generation through two methods at once
they're basically diodes
lol uknow u could hack together a tabletop sized nuclear reactor
with a bunch of tritium vials sandwiched between solar cells
not without a knock at your door lol
^^ safe and legal
ooOoo
can you sauce me that?
tritium is a sort of gas that glows in the dark
not really...it's illegal to sell tritium in the usa, but it's grey line on buying it outside of the usa and having it shipped to the usa
it;s got a halflife of like 15 years or something
radium is cheaper
yeah but needs to be charged
nope
?
radium is radioactive
heh
ur thinking of glow in the dark paint that is organic based phosphorous
u'd need a ton of it to do anything useful, and that would be enough to be dangerous i think
actually...not a lot...maybe a pound
a pound sounds like a shitload
neutron fusion reactor just needs a neutron feed source
oh i wonder if he is referencing the rods of god?
i would think the irdium and beryllium would be alot harder to get a hold of than most radioactive isotopes
yeah see that all sounds a lot more complicated then some tritium vials and solar cells 😛
i wonder how much power u could get out of chem lights
most nuke batteries use thermal decay to generate power
