I would suggest staying away from churches that don't know serious doctrine. You never know what they are preaching.

In our hearts we know the truth. It’s when we try to conform to the accepted we get into trouble

There are good churches I have no doubt. But truly we need to heed the wisdom and discrimination God has put in our mind and heart to discern truth. Religion is a man made thing. So no matter how good the intent it is flawed.

If you are reading a translation and not some transliteration you should be good, there are a lot of commentaries you can read to find the deeper meaning the translation doesn't do justice to
