oak is good for iron working when ur smelting ur own forge steel

because it burns super hot

but since it burns so hot...it requires alot of heat in 1 spot to get it burnign

and the average flame nor any cig butt could set oak off

i've put plenty of burn marks on oak planks in the past...not one of them actually set it ablaze and it had plenty of oxygen

that wood had to be sprayed with a thermite like compound to spread that quickly

and ignited with a flare or something close to as hot as one
