I would say grey man would be better

2021-01-14 02:57:12 UTC

I’m assuming you live in an urban area?

2021-01-14 02:57:49 UTC

Yes, but even then, it would be best to always be able to blend in

2021-01-14 02:58:51 UTC

Grey does loss time to several options it’s only an expansion of EDC items. Where tac man is built for up to a month exit from home or unlimited time.

2021-01-14 02:59:08 UTC

Do a mix?

2021-01-14 03:09:00 UTC

Make a pack for both. Carry the grey man pack everyday and leave the tac man pack at home or hide it at work if possible.

2021-01-14 03:12:37 UTC

always grey. You can be prepared and not stand out. If I want support, I only intend to take it from the guys I know personally, and we will likely coordinate anything if need be. say, e.g., there is huricane and you have to hunt or do some sort of supply run. I look kitted up, people are going to wonder whats up, follow me, and maybe even figure out that I have resources wherever i am staying

2021-01-14 03:12:58 UTC

then I have the problem of potentially needing to defend my stuff and fam if people really get desperate

2021-01-14 03:13:12 UTC

even in an edc application, i dont want to be a target

2021-01-14 03:14:17 UTC

e.g., if there was an active shooter, if he knows I have a gun before I know he does, he is going to take me out. if I look like everyone else, my odds of being able to take him out are much better.

2021-01-14 03:14:28 UTC

thats just how I see it.

2021-01-14 03:14:51 UTC

I think there is a time and a place for show of force, but I would personally avoid it

2021-01-14 04:07:17 UTC

Yea

2021-01-14 04:07:29 UTC

There's pros and cons to open carrying and conceal carrying

2021-01-14 04:07:52 UTC

By open carrying you can typically draw faster. Then again, that doesn't matter if you're dead...

2021-01-14 04:38:23 UTC

Yeah, sometimes you get targeted more/first when open carrying

2021-01-14 04:38:44 UTC

Like what sixfive was saying xd

2021-01-14 05:17:37 UTC

yes

2021-01-14 05:20:15 UTC

Yeah, good to know

2021-01-14 06:18:09 UTC

yeah can confirm, for longer-distance backpacking / etc you really want to consolidate items as much as possible, like probably only having one main cooking container and then a thermos for whatever liquid prefer to drink is more than adequate. it may not be the most comfortable but your back and knees will thank you for it

2021-01-14 13:33:43 UTC

^yup, I completely agree.

2021-01-14 16:24:44 UTC

I did the AT a few years ago I only carried what could be considered grey man while doing that I was more likely to be targeted for theft and was robbed once. Leading the rest of the journey for tac carry with old army equipment that I had which lead to people avoiding me on the hike and people of same mindsets joining me making a MAD like situation same situation when I hiked out west too. I will still walk gently with a big stick only works if those can see the big stick.

2021-01-14 17:14:22 UTC

makes sense. ngl, on the AT, I too carry a big ass knife where everyone can see it.

2021-01-14 17:15:00 UTC

I still think that if your in a crowd of people though, its a good idea to blend in.

2021-01-14 19:22:16 UTC

2021-01-14 19:22:24 UTC

**my time has come**

2021-01-14 21:05:40 UTC

Ounces = Pounds

2021-01-14 21:06:07 UTC

Pounds = Pain

2021-01-14 21:29:35 UTC

This one kid brings his fucking laptop when we go backpacking

2021-01-14 21:32:45 UTC

When I’m doing stuff with my SAR group one of us carries this massive med bag that has a folding stretcher inside it. Among other things

2021-01-14 21:33:29 UTC

cool

2021-01-14 21:33:44 UTC

speaking of which where can i get one of them folding strechers

2021-01-14 21:35:29 UTC

cool thanks

2021-01-14 21:35:43 UTC

how easy is it to unfold

2021-01-14 21:36:57 UTC

Usually takes a pair of us to do it as the rods can be a bit stiff.

2021-01-14 21:37:14 UTC

And you have to twist out and hold it

2021-01-14 21:37:23 UTC

I see ok

2021-01-14 21:37:52 UTC

Still useful if you are in a group
