The rough like concrete
The rough and medium stone should be large, the fine stone should be about an inch and a half by 5 or 6 inches so you can easily manipulate it as it will be used to make circles while the large ones will be used in a push motion.
You manipulate the blade with the large stones but manipulate the stone with the fine stone.
You can also buy machines to do it automatically.
Ah I see
How do the ratings match with the numbered ratings?
I know there are 1000 and 6000
It varies depending on the country
I use a 900, 1000, 5000, 8000, and 16000 stone.
You can buy double sided ones.
I also own a chalk stone
Oh
Is it more coarse the smaller it is or the bigger it is?
Well shit
Smaller the number the more course it is.
I've only been using a fine stone all this time!
It's like sandpaper
Ah, so the duller the knife is the smaller number you want to a certain extent right?
You usually use all of your stones once
Then your fine stone over the next 3 times
Repeat
Ah to get a more refined edge right?
More or less
No to maintain it
I know nothing about whetstones 🤣
Btw a razor has about a 15 degree edge to it
I used one once in scouts around 5 years ago
Just sayin
Think of it like sandpaper.
You can also use sandpaper and a belt sander.
So if you want a blade razor sharp...
Well a 15 degree blade doesn't last
A 23 degree blade is the best for sharpness and lasting
Ah
I'm gonna go do some research on Amazon. Thanks for the help!
I'll update you if I ever find a whetstone 🤣
Yeah between 20-25 degrees is usually your best bet
I'm just sayin if he wants it razor sharp now he knows what to do
Also get what is known as a chalk stone, a stone so fine it feels like you're just rubbing tough chalk against the blade.
In texas you can legally own a flame thrower
