Because nobody was buying .30 ammo anymore.

2021-01-18 03:20:10 UTC

Make it yourself

2021-01-18 03:21:32 UTC

Eh...as a hobby, you can do that, sure. I mean we should have implemented it as a more widespread round. It would have been great in the thompson, would have been great in the m3 grease gun.

2021-01-18 03:21:37 UTC

There's still reloaders and case makers for it

2021-01-18 03:21:47 UTC

Eh

2021-01-18 03:21:54 UTC

Not in the Grease gun

2021-01-18 03:21:58 UTC

Would have been great in most modern SMG's.

2021-01-18 03:22:05 UTC

Why not?

2021-01-18 03:22:34 UTC

Well because the Grease gun has such a low firerate and such little recoil with .45

2021-01-18 03:22:41 UTC

Why downgrade it?

2021-01-18 03:22:53 UTC

The .30 is superior to the .45

2021-01-18 03:22:59 UTC

I disagree

2021-01-18 03:23:03 UTC

How so?

2021-01-18 03:23:23 UTC

🍿 👀

2021-01-18 03:23:28 UTC

I prefer the .45

2021-01-18 03:23:41 UTC

I just do

2021-01-18 03:23:56 UTC

Just like I prefer 5.45 to 5.56

2021-01-18 03:24:10 UTC

357 to 44

2021-01-18 03:25:35 UTC

Alrighty. I'm not going to debate on the merits of personal preferences, you can like what you like. I'm not saying that there shouldn't be an option to buy the M3 greasegun chambered in .45.

What I'm saying is that I believe the default round should have been .30 Carbine based on ballistics testing.

2021-01-18 03:25:59 UTC

.30 was much less common at the time

2021-01-18 03:26:12 UTC

.45 just makes sense from a production standpoint

2021-01-18 03:27:04 UTC

.30 provides as much stopping power at 1,000 feet as a .357 at the muzzle *I believe* (if somebody wants to correct me, I have no problems, with that). And it's more accurate at longer ranges to boot, very helpful if you've got a two handed weapon that can make single shots.

2021-01-18 03:27:43 UTC

From a production standpoint? Absolutely.

2021-01-18 03:28:01 UTC

Except the Grease gun and Thompson are submachine guns

2021-01-18 03:28:09 UTC

You don't need range

2021-01-18 03:28:23 UTC

You can make single shots with them.

2021-01-18 03:28:27 UTC

For range you have .308

2021-01-18 03:28:45 UTC

That's why I have a AR-10 instead of a 15.

2021-01-18 03:30:41 UTC

If you want the optimal subgun round, I'd say 9mm in terms of recoil, .30 in terms of range. But the .45 is outdated.

*I am not saying it should be illegal to own a subgun in .45, I am saying the default production model should be in something else.* Keep the free markets free, I think you should absolutely be able to own a .45 greasegun if you want to.

2021-01-18 03:31:03 UTC

And there would be plenty of people who want it, so I'm sure there would be a model.

2021-01-18 03:32:18 UTC

You like the .45, and I respect that. It was a great round in history.

2021-01-18 03:35:34 UTC

I'm running to grab some caffiene, I will be back. It's been fun, Bourbon. I've enjoyed the company.

2021-01-18 03:35:52 UTC

If you're still here, we can pick up again.

2021-01-18 03:46:07 UTC

I was folding laundry

2021-01-18 03:50:28 UTC

I'd certainly like to have you in a D20 modern group, because in terms of play style, you and me are very similar. A lot of choices I make in TTRPG's are done because *screw the optimal build, I wanna be me*.

2021-01-18 03:51:33 UTC

I want to be sneaky but carry a longsword

2021-01-18 03:51:44 UTC

Why? Because fuck the rules

2021-01-18 03:51:48 UTC

Right? I know.

2021-01-18 03:52:34 UTC

Bolt action rifles are obsolete? Let's see how obsolete you think they are when I put a .303 round through your skull at 300 meters.

2021-01-18 03:53:41 UTC

*Laughs in .338 lapua magnum.*

2021-01-18 03:54:25 UTC
