Twitter has more power than POTUS.

2021-01-13 03:50:01 UTC

They can ban him in an instant.

2021-01-13 03:50:02 UTC

2021-01-13 03:50:40 UTC

ngl

2021-01-13 03:55:28 UTC

They’re a private company, they can do what they want! They can monopolize the entire internet, having so much power that they could essentially shadow ban the president from the information highway!

2021-01-13 03:55:52 UTC

It’s their right! If you don’t follow the rules move to another platform!

2021-01-13 03:56:11 UTC

Oh you did? Well time to use my unchecked power to remove you from there as well

2021-01-13 03:56:13 UTC

Woops!!!

does anybody wonder if biden is actally trying to be nice how he claims but just mentally retarded so he goes about it the wrong way

2021-01-13 04:08:27 UTC

Biden doesn't worry me, congress worries me

2021-01-13 04:09:37 UTC

Biden is a weak man

2021-01-13 04:09:42 UTC

It’s the party behind him

2021-01-13 04:18:08 UTC

The "pRiVaTe cOmPaNy" argument is not valid. Twatter, Fakebook, and these other social media platforms are the new public square where most conversation goes on nowadays. These firms should have no ability to ban anyone at all (unless it is objevtively a genuine threat, legally recognized illicit material, or calls/recruitment for terrorism), given that they U.S. based and take state subsidies. To that end, they should be beholden to our laws/constitution. The tragic part is that 230 is there to stop these sites from acting the way they are, but because money is allowed to influence politicians, it is not being enforced

2021-01-13 04:33:18 UTC

What? Section 230 is actually what allows them to blurr the lines between a publisher and public forum platform. Repeal section 230 and hold these big techs accountable or nationalize them entirely.

2021-01-13 04:33:34 UTC

We need to burn these companies with pain and economic agony.

2021-01-13 04:35:55 UTC

Yes, I understand the distinction 230 creates. It isn't the companies, it is the refusal of the government to enforce its own rules when companies claiming to be platforms are blatantly acting as publishers

2021-01-13 04:36:46 UTC

We punish them by repealing section 230.

2021-01-13 04:37:26 UTC

As private companies, they must act the same amount of duty minded as normal citizens.
Guarantee them 1st amendment rights. And accountability and transparency.

2021-01-13 04:37:26 UTC

How would that punish them? Wouldn't that just obliterate smaller competition?

2021-01-13 04:37:33 UTC

No.

2021-01-13 04:38:03 UTC

Alt Tech is already a "smaller competition" and they are rising without them even caring about section 230.

2021-01-13 04:38:18 UTC

These alt techs thrive by guaranteeing their users 1st amendment.

2021-01-13 04:38:27 UTC

Twitter and FaceBook don't.

2021-01-13 04:38:53 UTC

They disguise their tyrannical, Orwellian actions under "protection against hate speech" guidelines.

2021-01-13 04:39:32 UTC

If you are advertising yourself as a social platform, you de facto must be consistent with that and play as public forum.

2021-01-13 04:39:34 UTC

Period.

2021-01-13 04:39:48 UTC

That's why Twitter is falling in sales.

2021-01-13 04:43:57 UTC

I agree with you on the public forum statement. My understanding of 230 is that it prevents site owner accountability as long as what is on your site does not go through you directly. What these tech giants are doing is direct moderation of content; thereby defining them as publishers under 230, and thus should open them up to the consequences of being a publisher

I mean the Libertarians are right on this, Twitter did lose 5 billion in revenue

2021-01-13 05:52:31 UTC

Same with the bank that closed an account of trump worth 5.3 million
