and practices can change rapidly

2020-02-08 02:15:06 UTC

and they will

2020-02-08 02:15:08 UTC

I mean other than ww2

2020-02-08 02:15:11 UTC

you had much more freedom

2020-02-08 02:15:24 UTC

the american dream was strong then

2020-02-08 02:16:27 UTC

well, it certainly wouldn't be my dream to be a coal miner in 1902, working 12-14 hours a day, with no time to see my family, whom I could barely afford to buy food for and keep a roof over their heads

2020-02-08 02:16:56 UTC

and then die at an early age, due to my profession

2020-02-08 02:17:44 UTC

It is pretty wild to contemplate how much a mere 100 years has changed life on this planet.

2020-02-08 02:17:57 UTC

you could make lots of money working coal and then switch careers

2020-02-08 02:18:18 UTC

also if it was 1920 you probably wouldn't be military age by ww2

2020-02-08 02:19:00 UTC

women also were much more faithful back then

2020-02-08 02:19:27 UTC

that's becuase social media didn't exist

2020-02-08 02:19:57 UTC

and sexting

2020-02-08 02:21:23 UTC

@Queen Of Conspiracy I saw your message in the infowars channel. Come over here, instead.

2020-02-08 02:21:43 UTC

after working coal for a short amount of time you could open a general store

2020-02-08 02:21:46 UTC

and you'd be fine

2020-02-08 02:22:25 UTC

I don't think that would be any easier than opening up a general store today.

2020-02-08 02:22:35 UTC

It would be much easier

2020-02-08 02:22:53 UTC

I'm not sure what you base that on.

2020-02-08 02:23:19 UTC

the amount of regulations and taxes businesses face today

2020-02-08 02:23:36 UTC

also the cost of property

2020-02-08 02:23:48 UTC

and goods

2020-02-08 02:23:51 UTC

it's all relative

2020-02-08 02:24:20 UTC

no its really not

2020-02-08 02:24:37 UTC

I don't follow your logic.

2020-02-08 02:25:40 UTC

if you are saying that regulations, taxes, and other modern yokes around people's necks in 2020 are far more than they were back in 1920, then I would agree.

2020-02-08 02:27:14 UTC

But if you are saying that living life, buying property, supporting your family, starting a business (and the likes) were easier in 1920, then I would not agree on whole. Perhaps a few intricacies were easier 100 years ago, but you also don't die from a cold anymore.

2020-02-08 02:27:55 UTC

People still had immune systems back then they didn't just "die from a cold"

2020-02-08 02:27:58 UTC

honestly going to the dr'

2020-02-08 02:28:08 UTC

dr's office in 2020 with a cold is no different than in the 20's

2020-02-08 02:28:12 UTC

there is no cure for the common cold

2020-02-08 02:28:30 UTC

I think one of the only major health differences would be dental

2020-02-08 02:28:43 UTC

they still had antibiotics in the 20's

2020-02-08 02:28:58 UTC

which is for bacteria not viruses anyway

2020-02-08 02:29:22 UTC

also surgery would be more sketchy back then

2020-02-08 02:31:16 UTC

but the conversation was about business not medical advances

2020-02-08 02:31:31 UTC

a lot of prescription meds now actually kill you faster as well as chemo therapy

2020-02-08 02:32:27 UTC

I will give you that one. Please replace my word _cold_ with pneumonia or the flu.

2020-02-08 02:32:35 UTC

bad word choice

2020-02-08 02:32:52 UTC

but yes, the original convo was about business

2020-02-08 02:33:35 UTC

I mean sure there were many things that were bad about that era of time
