People that control these hordes of zombie computers are very dangerous.

Like someone might have infected 5 million computers, worldwide, with a virus or some malware, which gives that person some amount of control over those computers. He can have each of those 5 million computers send a simple request to a web server, simultaneously, and completely knock that website offline, so long as his zombie horde keeps sending requests to that server.

That would be a simple example.
