People shouldn't live in *fear* of speaking their opinion, regardless of what it might be. If their opinion is not to your liking, then change it through rational discourse and not intimidation, otherwise you will make martyrs out of monsters and drive the problem on to the next generation.
Look at the tremendous financial success that the Westborough Baptist Church (God Hates Fags people) got because of the reaction people had to them - they literally made money by suing people who attacked them for their obscene beliefs.
