he's self employed at 21 and makes 120k a year
I dunno stardusk says the hours are hell for little pay but then again he did Korean and European languages
maybe if you work for a company it's worse
If you can get 4 in demand languages under your belt you're golden
Translators usually require specialization
yeah i think he knows mandarin, arabic, russian and farsi
You can if your dad is a je.... I mean janitor
idk how in demand the rest are
Plus translation is being automated
not to expert level
or native level
@Space wix He's one of us
I sensed it
mandarin is extremely complicated and so is cantonese
cantonese has like 7 or 8 different tones
mandarin has 4
Cantonese is fine once you know mandarins
Actually
@Deleted User As well as Ching Chong Changense
The Chinese has bunch of dialects
yeah
So it isn't necessary to master them on that level
theres shanghaiese
or something
You just need to speak and understand
shanghai dialect
doesn't the government hire translators
@Punished Korgoth <:damn:480188339622903829>
russian ones arabic ones
too
the government has the ability to hire translators, like everyone else
I know Cantonese, mandarins, hokkien and hakka. Cantonese and hakka at minimal
If you wanna know the important ones, go for mandarin then Cantonese
The rest are more or less unimportant
Thanks for the advice though, I'll come back to you on my oh so interesting future plan if it arises
I know 2 hand signs in every language
yep
hong kong is dominated by cantonese
