Yes and No. So a supreme court justice is the highest court and is technically a judge. What they generally rule on are constitutional issues. They only take so many issues. For example, Kavanaugh, is the most recent Supreme Court Justice. His entire career included being a lawyer, and a judge, moving his way up to being nominated by Trump.

@SChickenMan Many issues sent to the Supreme Court are also relegated down back to local levels because the Justices know that when they rule on something it will have a permanent effect on the US.
