One change I'd suggest, find a different way to show the % of white people. Because your side scale margins are much larger then 100, best you can see if the % is a relative difference.

The left axis is indicated by the orange bars and gray line
The right axis is indicated by the blue line
This is Republican Cities
Blue Line right axis
Orange Columns and Grey Columns on left axis
Note: I couldn't find any republican city under 47% White so this chart is smaller
Another thing I noticed is that most republican cities were mostly under a 5 per 100k murder rate while democrat cities struggled to stay below 7 per 100k murders
