2021-01-06 10:29:12 UTC

well today will be an interesting day

2021-01-06 10:29:25 UTC

how?

2021-01-06 10:30:06 UTC

wait for it

2021-01-06 10:30:08 UTC

Today is Inauguration Day

2021-01-06 10:30:17 UTC

no, thats on the 20th

2021-01-06 10:30:41 UTC

Shit, Electoral votes

2021-01-06 10:31:11 UTC

few states are officially asking for delays

2021-01-06 10:31:16 UTC

I've stayed outta the bullshit for a while now.
It can only get uglier from here on.

2021-01-06 10:32:44 UTC

music for today - "The Doors - Riders On The Storm"

2021-01-06 10:34:58 UTC

I'm in more of a Fear Factory or Pantera mood today.

2021-01-06 10:35:31 UTC

Something will most likely get broken, lol.

2021-01-06 10:38:36 UTC

well dc is mostly boarded up anyway

2021-01-06 10:39:03 UTC

some stores were using the good plywood, not the flake board crap

2021-01-06 10:41:15 UTC

I've seen them all use 2ft spacing for the ledgers, tho. 1/2" ply or OSB is fairly weak when spaced that far apart.

2021-01-06 10:41:48 UTC

well osb is cheap ass shit

2021-01-06 10:42:15 UTC

they don't even use it for storm emergency nor shipping containers

2021-01-06 10:42:20 UTC

It's made of trash wood and glue, of course.

2021-01-06 10:42:52 UTC

wood chipper solids and glue

2021-01-06 10:43:01 UTC

I think it lost a lot of weatherproof capability when the glue was changed to Low VOC

2021-01-06 10:43:16 UTC

That shit is water soluble

2021-01-06 10:43:26 UTC

shit warps during 1 wet season

2021-01-06 10:43:46 UTC

Yeah, it needs a house wrap to prevent that.

2021-01-06 10:44:19 UTC

and it's easier to bust thru when using it as 'protection' layer over some structure or vents/windows

2021-01-06 10:44:42 UTC

Lol, 1 good claw hammer will do it.

2021-01-06 10:44:51 UTC

few houses in my area are under housing authority for low income renters

2021-01-06 10:45:20 UTC

they don't even use osb to protect the windows between 'renters'

2021-01-06 10:46:25 UTC

Theres no money in it. Subsidized housing nets the owner about $150 per month per unit. That has to cover the maintenance costs, too.

2021-01-06 10:46:45 UTC

You have to own 100 units to turn an effective profit.

2021-01-06 10:48:01 UTC

too many 'renters' fail to read the fine print of the rental agreement...even tho they're reminded several times about it verbally....when renting at reduced rate while allowed to live in a house under 'housing under development' , they have to be allowed to come to work on the house...even have housing auth staff with them while they work on the house while those 'renters' are living there

2021-01-06 10:48:49 UTC

last person that got removed from such a house, the neighbors provided food and drinks for the security for the place to make sure no retribution came down on the house

2021-01-06 10:49:05 UTC

Lmao, I've built HUD Houses and Section 8 apts for 20 years. You're preaching to the choir.

2021-01-06 10:49:43 UTC

i mostly help home owners learn how to fix their own homes and avoid high costs

2021-01-06 10:49:52 UTC

The last 6 years have been nothing but renovation work, and a few tenants have been evicted for keeping us from doing our job.

2021-01-06 10:51:08 UTC

I had one job where we had to pave around a car. A lot for a 50 unit subdivision with 1 little spot unpaved. The owner had to sue the person to recoup costs to come back.

2021-01-06 10:51:30 UTC

i try to explain it to home/apartment renters to stop using just drywall

2021-01-06 10:51:53 UTC

plywood under the drywall is best, reduces damage costs over time

2021-01-06 10:51:53 UTC

Shit, osb is cheaper than drywall

2021-01-06 10:52:19 UTC

asshole renters will put holes thru walls

2021-01-06 10:52:58 UTC

Oh, yeah, they love to do that. The govt made us switch to solid core doors to prevent damage, too.
