I have so many apps in the background yet the phone is still running pretty fast

2020-11-20 20:40:45 UTC

My Samsung phone after 2 years is not running that well. It also has 4GB of RAM, but it is a mid-range phone.

I had a moto z3 that had 6gb and it did pretty well considering my multitasking, the main reason I bought this phone is for the camera...108mp, the photos are like 27 mb per

this one was taken with the 3x telephoto, it's only like 20 mp

2020-11-20 21:13:47 UTC

My S8+ is more then 2 years old with 4GB of RAM but the high end processor is probably what makes mine almost new compared to yours.

2020-11-20 21:14:11 UTC

A better place for that is <#721886072702763059>

I've got the snapdragon 865 in mine with the adreno650 gpu

2020-11-20 21:20:04 UTC

qualcomm said it's the most efficient gpu in the world

So, for a while, I've had a design for a decentralised protocol that mimics Discord, its architecture and its design+features.

Over this weekend, I'm going to have a go at writing some implementations of it. Because, at some point, we're all going to get kicked off of sites like this. Discord has been *ok* up to this point with banning people Facebook style. Yet, we can't rule anything out. And I really don't want us to have to use IRC or something like that.

2020-11-20 21:41:31 UTC

I'll post how I get on

2020-11-20 21:53:49 UTC

Have you looked into Matrix chat?

2020-11-20 21:54:22 UTC

It's a decentralized messaging protocol.

2020-11-20 21:57:52 UTC

Yes, I just want to have a go at implementing Discord-like features

2020-11-20 22:02:24 UTC

While it's absolutely possible to create a protocol on your own, any new protocol has to be created by somebody at some point, but getting it audited for security is the hard part so people trust it enough to use it.

2020-11-20 22:03:46 UTC

Fair enough. It’s was more wishful thinking than anything, thinking people would use it. I’ll just have a go as a fun programming exercise anyhow

Hey, I am looking for a smart watch recommendation for a Christmas gift for my dad. Something that he can wear all day and is either durable or has options for cases/ other appliances that will protect it as he works in the trades. He would want it to track the biometric stuff while working out, and mileage. I've hear garmin is good, just wondering if there is anything else.

2020-11-21 18:40:01 UTC

@mo-me119 the Apple Watch is the only other option I would consider. Garmin watches are great too my dad and my brother wear garmin watches and they love all the information it gives them. But if your dad has an iPhone you should just go for the Apple Watch is my opinion. I’m a fan of the Apple ecosystem

2020-11-21 18:41:39 UTC

@Josue Martinez thanks! He does have an applie iphone, my main concern is something breaking it at work. Not sure which option would be the most durable.

2020-11-21 18:46:05 UTC

@mo-me119 my brother actually also has an Apple Watch that he exclusively uses for work. He works as a welder at the oil rigs and it hasn’t broken so I assume it’s durable for work. There’s also a huge selection on Amazon for protective cases including rugged cases.

2020-11-21 18:48:34 UTC

@Josue Martinez thanks so much! I'll definitely look into it some more!

2020-11-21 20:47:33 UTC

I personally have liked the looks of spigen cases, when looking at a good balance of price to performance

2020-11-21 20:47:47 UTC

Gotten a few, seem to work well

2020-11-21 20:50:53 UTC

That's for phone cases, idk if they have protectors for watches or not

2020-11-21 21:42:01 UTC

I also have good luck with Spigen cases for phones. My current case has definitely seen better days but it's two plus years close to three years old and the cases are cheap enough I have no problem buying another one if I wasn't planning to buy a new phone in about 6 months. It's thin enough while still giving great protection.

2020-11-21 22:34:38 UTC

Yeah :)

2020-11-21 22:35:11 UTC

Still have yet to get one for my current phone though xd

Anybody have AirPod pros??? I’m thinking of upgrading @ me if you have something to say

2020-11-22 04:40:33 UTC

You obviously could not afford the wire

2020-11-22 04:48:31 UTC

That’s the reason I want them, the wire is too expensive 💀

2020-11-22 13:17:33 UTC

I’d personally just avoid air pods all together

2020-11-22 16:12:30 UTC
