Very relevant to my life I'm looking to upgrade my headset the range on my G933 suck so much

2020-12-11 18:19:23 UTC

The steelseries arctis I heard is pretty good

2020-12-11 18:19:29 UTC

but sold out

2020-12-11 18:20:08 UTC

I just picked up the Astro A50's (I'm using PC) and they really dont seem worth the price

2020-12-11 18:20:29 UTC

Any other good choices?

2020-12-11 19:16:39 UTC

After basically everything in my life went online I decided to invest in a quality wired headphone (Sennheiser HD6xx) that was comfortable for long stretches while also sounding great. I then paired that with a Blue Yeti I got off eBay for my mic. I really don't miss my old gaming wireless headset after switching.

2020-12-11 19:18:33 UTC

Would you say a mic and mic stand is worth it just for talking online if you do discord calls, parties, etc a lot

2020-12-11 19:20:35 UTC

I've heard good things about the sennhieser HD6xx's too

2020-12-11 19:20:57 UTC

or similar ones anyway

2020-12-11 19:24:06 UTC

I don't know what kind of audio quality Discord allows, I think you only get high quality if you server boost which I don't. As for video calls, the ability if the mic to make my voice nice a clear while not picking up background noise like hard drives or my laptop fan is nice. There are a lot of people in calls who have really sub par mics.

2020-12-11 19:25:56 UTC

While I'd really suggest getting an amp if you get the HD6xx, it's possible to drive them off even a cell phone. However for my cell phone I have to nearly max the volume to get my preferred level while indoors where it's already fairly quiet.

2020-12-11 19:26:18 UTC

ah yeah

2020-12-11 19:26:35 UTC

I'm thinking of getting a DAC for my PC too

2020-12-11 19:26:54 UTC

"thinking"

2020-12-11 19:26:56 UTC

lol

2020-12-11 19:27:44 UTC

I got a DAC and AMP from shitt audio. Not the cheapest dac and amps but they are quality with lots of headroom if I get headphones that are harder to drive.

2020-12-11 19:28:40 UTC

I've heard decent stuff about them too, but hate the name 😂

2020-12-11 19:29:36 UTC

If it matters, they don't have the company name on them where people would see unless you look at the back.

2020-12-11 19:30:33 UTC

yeah then people be like "what DAC do ya got?" and I'd be like "uhm... well.. you see.. uh" 😂

2020-12-11 19:31:30 UTC

Just say it's the Modi 3+

2020-12-11 19:32:34 UTC

If you Google "Modi 3+ dac" it's the first result.

2020-12-11 19:32:36 UTC

So how do those things work

2020-12-11 19:32:44 UTC

I’ve been curious

2020-12-11 19:32:49 UTC

What part?

2020-12-11 19:32:55 UTC

The box thingy

2020-12-11 19:34:44 UTC

The bottom box is the DAC. It connects to my computer over USB. It then creates an unamplified analog single I bring into the AMP which is the top box with RCA cables. The AMP then takes the unamplified analog signal and amplifies it enough to drive headphones or speakers.

2020-12-11 19:36:42 UTC

The DAC also accepts SPDIF and the orange digital rca looking connection you see on some TVs besides just USB if that's your thing.

2020-12-11 20:05:29 UTC

yep i understand that, cool

2020-12-12 00:17:30 UTC

I need somebody good with windows and computers in general to help me download and open some files. Please tag me if you can help me and we can hop in a VC

What do y'all think of breaking in headphones

2020-12-12 04:09:44 UTC

Wanting to discuss a low RPM stator for my water wheel.

2020-12-12 14:18:19 UTC

Anyone know of any tricks to untangle headphone chords

2020-12-12 15:02:12 UTC

I usually unplug it. Then lift the end off the ground so it can spin freely, and unravel itself. Idk if it would work for you but it might

2020-12-12 15:23:30 UTC

Alright thank you

2020-12-12 16:35:46 UTC

did work? xD

2020-12-12 23:14:07 UTC

The dumbest thing I ever told myself was that I wouldn't need a portable power pack today
