What should my price range be for a good desktop computer
What do you want to do with it?
No matter what you want to do with it though, pay for an SSD over a hard drive.
If you was near me I could give you a decent one. It has a 3ed gen i5 which I know is kind of dated but still 4 cores. It also supports up to 32gb of ddr3 ram
Gaming I reckon
You will probably want a computer with at least 8 gb of RAM, less then that is constrained with modern Windows and will make things snappier because more can be cashed in RAM.
Gaming you may want to go up to 16 GB depending on what game you are playing.
Ok
Do you have some examples of what kind of games you play? Also, what resolution monitor do you have or plan to have? That will help you from over paying on GPU.
Yeah how much would you want for it though
Umm not really I just need a pc for a few other things and I don't want to buy another console but enjoy gaming
@SomeSouthernGuy it would be free I have 12 desktops and 4 laptops
If you are casual gamer with mainly online multiplayer, you may be able to get by with a desktop with an AMD Ryzen APU. AMD CPUs have great price to performance for compute and the built in GPU is based off their high end GPUS. It should be good for casual gaming and then later down the road if you want more GPU power you can add a dedicated GPU. If you get an AMD GPU it would actually use your built in GPU and the dedicated to give extra performance.
Its a no brainer, i got a 240gb kingston a400 for 25 bucks, best upgrade i ever made
Too bad we live so far from each
Ok I'll check that out
Boots in less than 5 seconds even on an 8 year old cpu
Yeah I think someone said you moved
Maybe my mind was else where
Adding an SSD to my grandfather's Vista desktop and upgrading to Windows 10 gave that system a new life for an extra 3 years till the computer finally just died.
No I still live in the Anderson county and Knox county area
Oh I might be in Knoxville in a couple days if I can get my truck fixed
I'm going to McKays
If you can get a desktop for cheap, you can put a nice GPU in it and have a quality gaming rig for quite a few years, particularly if your comparing to a console.
Even if a pc can;t play the latest games, theres a boundless backlog of older games that are still amazing too!
I live near a computer recycling center so I get stuff for free. I scored a 4GB 1050ti once and it still works
I don't know any computer recycling places near me, i mostly rely on ebay and going to thrift stores in big cities, they have the best stuff
Even if i have to drive for a few hours to get there
That's lucky
My main pc is in peices. I need to reassemble it
Looks expensive
So you are using one of your extras right now?
It was free and it works
Yeah my spare has a 3rd gen i7 and 32gb of ddr3 ram
I had alot more computers but I keep trading for more ram.
I just like building PC's
I usually turn my spare computers into nodes for my computer cluster
i got 16gbs of ddr3 1600 + lots of random BS agp cards and dialup modems for 6 bucks
and a 200gb hard drive that for some bizzare reason had a installation of windows 98 on it, but i just DBAN'd it and used it as an external
