anyone here got a good recommendation for an air rifle? realistically, I just want it for target practice and plinking, but I would love to somehow integrate it into my shtf kit.
Ideally, I want something that can be dissembled into two or maybe three halves within 10-15 seconds and stored in a bag. This is because if we, by some horrible stroke of luck, end up in an apocalyptic/with-out-rule-of-law scenario where food is scarce, I don't want anyone knowing that I have: A) food in my possession or B) means of procuring food. Studying history, we have more than once seen starving societies turn from civil to murderous over mere bread crumbs. Take the siege of Jerusalem e.g. If I could break down a rifle and conceal it in a bag, I can easily walk to a half-a-dozen spots where I know the game is abundant.
In terms of what type of action I want, under-levers or multi-pumps sound like a good option if things are really bad, b/c then you dont have to carry a pump or procure co2 cartridges. I dont want a break barrel though, b/c my Papa has mentioned that they tend to wear out if you shoot a lot (which I kinda do) and generally lack accuracy for a handful of reasons. I also think a gun that is either suppressed or could be suppressed sounds nice too, but can live without it.
