Heh

2020-12-06 03:36:25 UTC

how was it out of the box need to do much intonation ,sting action hight adjustments? i have heard the horror storys of fret buzz from shecters but Im used to buzzing tuning down to C or A on seven

2020-12-06 03:37:06 UTC

so i will be doing a full set up anyway just curious

2020-12-06 03:41:49 UTC

the action height was spot on. truss rod was good too. I think the intonation was close too and the fret buzz wasnt so bad out of the box. more just the strings slapping against the fretboard itself because the stock strings were super light. <:KEK:726877368601411624> I got some thicker strings now (size 12 bronze phosphor) that buzz a good bit from drop b on, but I think its just the strings more than anything. Bronze phosphor has a beautifully rich tone, but they tend to buzz more *ime*. The low action probably contributes somewhat, but I think its a non-issue if you run thick enough strings for your current tuning.

hope this helps

and ofc, if you can, try the guitar out it person. They were going to try selling me a demo guitar that was in pretty bad shape. I said hell no and asked if they had another one in their inventory. They brought one out, I checked it over and tried it, and left with solid piece of equipment.

2020-12-06 03:43:57 UTC

tbf, it was just some young guy at a guitar center, so I dont fault the store for trying to rip me off, but ye

2020-12-06 03:49:08 UTC

2020-12-06 03:50:20 UTC

Anybody know a good mic that works well with brass instruments? I need to record but the internal one on my computers shorts out anytime I play above a certain range on my horn

2020-12-06 18:00:57 UTC

bro i feel ya. I would just try using the mic on your phone if you got one. most of them are OK now, just know that you would not want to use your phone to record something for a final mix. tbh, I am just getting into the recording and mixing game, so I dont have a ton of exp or kit yet. That said, I am asking for a Shure SM85 for Christmas so that I can record acoustic guitar (bronze phosphor strings for low-E through G, coated steel for B and high-E). If I dont get it for xmas, probably will just buy it.

Keep in mind, you will need a decent audio interface to connect your mic to your pc. I have a focusrite scarlet 2i2. I haven't used it for mics yet, but it lets me play my guitar directly into my pc and it works well. A good interface like the scarlet also lets you adjust gain (to prevent clipping) and should have different options to power your mic. e.g., some mics use phantom power, so make sure that whatever interface you get has this option.

sm58, not 85. my bad

2020-12-06 18:01:44 UTC

Ill get you a link

2020-12-06 18:06:02 UTC

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Scarlet2i2G3--focusrite-scarlett-2i2-3rd-gen-usb-audio-interface here is the interface I have. focusrite has a cheaper model, the scarlet solo, that can also get you into the game just as well, however, the 2i2 has two audio jacks instead of one. This is good because it gives you the ability to position multiple mics at the same time. You would likely want to do this if your recording an instrument and singing at the same time, or if you want multiple angles on your sound source.

2020-12-06 18:06:46 UTC

another thing the solo doesnt have is the ability to plug in either instrument cables or mic cables. That's the main reason I bought the 2i2, because I wanted to have the ability to plug a guitar into my pc.

2020-12-06 18:07:24 UTC

shop around too because there are cheaper interfaces out there. I just personally like the focusrite ones.

2020-12-06 18:07:45 UTC

and obviously, don't forget cables and a mic stand if you want to rec. instruments.

2020-12-06 18:08:39 UTC

hope this helps. My last bit of advice is to do your own research. I can tell you what I think all day, but you situation is unique to you. Ask your own questions, do your own digging, and you'll find what you need. :)

2020-12-06 18:15:41 UTC

oh, you will also need a daw. Just get Abelton 10 lite. I use that and it is perfectly fine for small projects. This is free and doesnt take up too much of your CPU if your careful.

2020-12-06 18:16:46 UTC

its packed with good features too.
