This is good because it gives you the ability to position multiple mics at the same time. You would likely want to do this if your recording an instrument and singing at the same time, or if you want multiple angles on your sound source.

another thing the solo doesnt have is the ability to plug in either instrument cables or mic cables. That's the main reason I bought the 2i2, because I wanted to have the ability to plug a guitar into my pc.

shop around too because there are cheaper interfaces out there. I just personally like the focusrite ones.

and obviously, don't forget cables and a mic stand if you want to rec. instruments.

oh, you will also need a daw. Just get Abelton 10 lite. I use that and it is perfectly fine for small projects. This is free and doesnt take up too much of your CPU if your careful.
