Want to feel some agony? Before I every went online, I got tired of my almost complete G1 collection, and sold almost every single one for yard sale prices.

2020-08-05 04:41:44 UTC

I didn't know what they were worth.

2020-08-05 04:41:51 UTC

Oh man, I’d hate myself LOL

2020-08-05 04:41:59 UTC

I'm hurting still, yep.

2020-08-05 04:42:20 UTC

I only have about thirty total left, including the cassettes.

2020-08-05 04:43:00 UTC

A lot of my stuff isn’t worth much anymore since it’s been well played with

2020-08-05 04:43:13 UTC

Never expected any of this stuff to be worth a fortune

2020-08-05 04:43:22 UTC

Same. I wasn't collecting to keep mint.

2020-08-05 04:43:44 UTC

What drives me nuts nowadays are the collecting latecomers.

2020-08-05 04:44:03 UTC

Modern stuff is *not* going to be worth $500 a pop loose.

2020-08-05 04:44:35 UTC

Definitely not, I don’t expect any modern “collectibles” to be worth anything

2020-08-05 04:45:25 UTC

VHS tape collecting is crazy too, they aren’t worth anything but people will pay a fortune for them. We sold all of our cheap a while ago

2020-08-05 04:45:41 UTC

I customize figures and vehicles as a hobby. Loose toys and parts are my jam. Nowadays, people at yard sales want five bucks for a legless Stormtrooper because "It's *collectible*!".

2020-08-05 04:47:09 UTC

Damn that’s cool, I’ve been interested in the customizing thing for awhile, but decided to just stick to collecting

2020-08-05 04:47:34 UTC

I’m not an avid collector either, only if I see something REALLY cool I buy it

2020-08-05 04:47:49 UTC

Same here. I don't actively collect anything.

2020-08-05 04:48:14 UTC

Back in the day, I had Star Wars, my friend had Joes. He kept breaking them and losing parts.

2020-08-05 04:48:43 UTC

I'd fix them for him, he'd give me the extra bits. Eventually I started slapping together my own.

2020-08-05 04:48:57 UTC

Then painting, then carving, then...LOL

2020-08-05 04:49:35 UTC

I have a Zartan somewhere, his rubber band snapped

2020-08-05 04:49:47 UTC

So now he’s in two pieces

2020-08-05 04:50:24 UTC

Easy fix. Hardware store, buy package of small O-rings. Tiny Philips screwdriver, replace.

2020-08-05 04:50:56 UTC

Cool, I try that out

2020-08-05 04:51:06 UTC

Zartan's gimmick was criminally underused in toys.

2020-08-05 04:51:53 UTC

Besides him and his siblings, and much later a couple of Dreadnok vehicles, I don't know of any other toys that really used it.

2020-08-05 04:52:24 UTC

Thermal changing plastic, yes, but UV is really ignored.

2020-08-05 04:52:46 UTC

I feel like his ability was a bit to hard to portray with toys, at the time

2020-08-05 04:52:55 UTC

But yeah they could have done better

2020-08-05 04:53:08 UTC

They never went back to it.

2020-08-05 04:53:32 UTC

Modern Zartans don't feature it at all. They just come with clip-on masks.

2020-08-05 04:53:55 UTC

I had a Batman like that as a kid

2020-08-05 04:54:14 UTC

It was a Bruce Wayne figure that change into Batman

2020-08-05 04:54:22 UTC

Yep!

2020-08-05 04:54:28 UTC

He just had a clip on suit

2020-08-05 04:55:04 UTC

Clip on gloves and boots, cowl (with cape attached) slid over his head

2020-08-05 04:55:24 UTC

Yeah, I had that one as parts once.

2020-08-05 04:55:53 UTC

I had a Spider-Man that could “crawl all by himself!” The gimmick was achieved by making his hands and feet out of a sticky rubber

2020-08-05 04:56:13 UTC

You were supposed to throw him at the wall then watch him “crawl down”

2020-08-05 04:56:37 UTC

Oh, *those*. Yeah, wall crawlers were big for about a year.

2020-08-05 04:56:55 UTC

Those, and the sticky hands things.

2020-08-05 04:57:23 UTC

Slime! Slime was huge in the 80s then came back in the 2000s
