Okay. Here's the hurdles:
You'll have to postulate why the allied races don't have their own ships, or why they're not available.
they have their own ships too
they dont have many
they're less advanced than humanity
Also describe how being cut off from Earth affects the relations, because other than just being friendly, they need a realistic reason to be allies. Trade, mutual defense, etc.
good idea
this takes place around 4000 AD
so far future
Since they have their own ships, there has to be a reason why they can't bolster the Earth fleet. Refits from the war, a simultaneous strike that hit them, etc.
They do help the human fleet
they have worse industry than humanity
so the other 2-3 alien races only supply about 40 ships
and they're all smaller corvettes/frigates armed with missiles instead of mass drivers
That's not my point. If the Earth fleet can only field 80 ships because of the debris field, nothing stops the allies from helping out.
Unless you included them in the tally.
I mean the aliens have very few ships
I included them
in the tally
humans have a huge industrial power
lol
its basically a shitshow
the leader of the fleet is a lieutenant
because every other higher officer gets killed
Are you planning on doing it ship scale, fleet scale, or grand scale?
fleet scale
basically focusing on one person
who enlisted in the navy
Okay, that's more ship scale.
yeah
Battlestar Galactica was mostly ship scale.
okay yeah
then ship scale
its hard to do a good grand scale
Very. LOL
because you dont get to know anyone
basically the main character is the leader of the fleet
I started slow in my own main universe, then expanded from there until it was huge.
nice
I find it easier to do a single story on one person
