Were the nukes in ww2 actually justified?

Japan was never going to surrender if America didn't nuke them twice
Yeah that’s what I thought too, they didn’t even intend to surrender after the second nuke too...
Until the emperor announced they were surrendering
They actually made so many purple heart medals for the planned air land and sea invasion of Japan they were still handing them out in the Iraq war
It was a smart move not nuking Tokyo though, they venerated the emperor like a god
They didnt plan on surrenderin, amd we didnt wanna risk the lives of millions of human lives trying to take Japan with human bodies. Was the most tactical solution out there

@Zilla the Japanese military was actually willing to use every able bodied man and woman to defend the home islands

Like even though they are severely depleted in terms of arms (the Americans surely have more advanced weapons at this point) Japanese troops when conscripted with the population would immensely outnumber the Americans

We just had a guy hike the ravine here to snowboard the bowl and fell off one side. He fell like 1600 ft down the mtn and lived.
