When that happens, when something "disappears" that means it didn't fail, that just means they do more secret development of it.

2020-11-11 04:25:25 UTC

aka they're gonna use it

2020-11-11 04:25:26 UTC

i think i know what you're talking about

2020-11-11 04:25:47 UTC
2020-11-11 04:26:03 UTC

how a simple coilgun looks

2020-11-11 04:26:05 UTC

Coilgun go uh boom

2020-11-11 04:26:07 UTC

a primitive one, but yeah, thats essentially how it works

2020-11-11 04:26:57 UTC

actually, i think i posted a video of some guys who made a working one chambered in .50 cal

2020-11-11 04:27:17 UTC

as in the diameter of the round, not actual .50 cal ammunition

2020-11-11 04:28:26 UTC

frankly i think the biggest issue concerning Coil Guns is that, due to not having a sabot carrier to assist in moving the projectile, the projectiles muzzle velocity is a fair bit lower, plus requires a great deal more of energy because it doesnt have a sabot carrier doing some of the moving

2020-11-11 04:29:16 UTC

but it does allow for more rapid firing so that is an upside to it

2020-11-11 04:30:37 UTC

I think we should use both, with coilguns arming the more frontline ships, and railguns being mounted behind the frontline for designated "sniper ships" and Carriers

2020-11-11 04:30:51 UTC

also is is so much cheaer than a missle

2020-11-11 04:31:01 UTC

vastly more cheaper

2020-11-11 04:31:29 UTC

tho not initially, railguns and coil guns are still very expensive to produce, because both are still fairly new technologies

2020-11-11 04:31:46 UTC

actually, if big enough, you could theoretically shoot tanks at people with mass accelerators as ammunition

2020-11-11 04:31:55 UTC

lol

2020-11-11 04:32:03 UTC

best part is, ammo is just basically hunks of metal

2020-11-11 04:32:08 UTC

yeah

2020-11-11 04:32:17 UTC

tho a penetrator rod is the most ideal ammunition

2020-11-11 04:32:24 UTC

especially in atmosphere

2020-11-11 04:32:30 UTC

"The Fist of God"

2020-11-11 04:33:14 UTC

aka rods the size of telephone poles made of tungsten dropped from space

2020-11-11 04:33:19 UTC

mhm

2020-11-11 04:33:49 UTC

tho they supposedly were never made nor put into space

2020-11-11 04:33:54 UTC

i've been told that if they strike the ground they can cause destruction the likes of which are even worse then nukes

2020-11-11 04:34:13 UTC

the destruction they cause can crack both the earth, and cause earthquakes

2020-11-11 04:34:19 UTC

> tho they supposedly were never made nor put into space
@Zilla or were they

2020-11-11 04:34:32 UTC

Just make a gun so powerful it can vaporize an island. Because who cares right?!

2020-11-11 04:34:42 UTC

> Just make a gun so powerful it can vaporize an island. Because who cares right?!
@Dr Badass PhD we already got nukes for that

2020-11-11 04:34:55 UTC

but the technical good thing about the rods is that they leave no fallout, so after the dust settles and the earth stops shaking you can go back there and rebuild

2020-11-11 04:35:05 UTC

But orbital death cannon 😔

2020-11-11 04:35:26 UTC

Hehehehe

2020-11-11 04:36:11 UTC

and the Rods of God by even their time werent really a new idea, they were based off of something done with high altitude bombers dropping solid steel bombs in Korea (or was it Nam i forget) where at the altitude they were dropped would have the same explosive mass as a similar sized chemical bomb

2020-11-11 04:36:58 UTC

all troops should have hi points

2020-11-11 04:37:02 UTC

change my mind

2020-11-11 04:37:07 UTC

Hmmm

2020-11-11 04:38:03 UTC

no

2020-11-11 04:38:07 UTC

I don't know enough about Korea so I won't say it was Korea. Another war Imma study when I have nothing else to do.

2020-11-11 04:38:40 UTC

yo i think i just got kicked

2020-11-11 04:38:43 UTC

im back tho
