this guy caught a record snakehead here in 2016. before that, they thought snakehead couldn't grow to be larger than 2feet in the potomac do too the water quality.
yes I believe your right.
Dang
Do you catch them?
that fish is 18.42 pounds, according to google
no I dont
Oh well if you do, eat it. I’ve tried it before and it’s delicious
so I've heard.
damn, looks good!
I'm told some species are poisonous, but I think that Changus Argus (what we have in VA) is safe if cooked.
Pan fry a snakehead, throw some panko on it and it’s amazing
panko?
what is that?
It’s like Japanese breadcrumbs basically
ahh, that sounds good
You can get them at Publix
Oh wait
Publix is a southern thing
here is a picture of the Potomac river at the northern end of a trail called Difficult Run. I can ride it pretty much all the way from my house, but it is rather exhausting. For that reason, I have never bothered to bring a rod when ride this trail.
I just looked in my ride logs, and its literally just ten miles from my place, with some 1500 feet in elevation change.
Sweet
This is where I fish
gorgeous!
Yeah
looks like good bass water. is it deep?
It’s not super deep, and it’s ok for bass
It’s the okeechobee waterway
It connects lake okeechobee to the ocean
I imagine you get a bit of salt there then?
or no?
It’s more brackish than fresh
gotcha.
We get Jacks, Snook, Tarpon, Snakehead, Catfish, Mayan Cichlids, freshwater eels, Croakers, Mullet, Shad, etc.
But the bite there has been mad slow
So I’ve been bass fishing lately behind my house
nice. I would love to hook a tarpon or snook
Little tarpon are like acrobats
I have a 6wt fly reel, broke my rod but I am going to replace it. I imagine that is enough for tarpon?
