from what i remember, the Jap aircraft were detected by radar in the mountains of one of Hawaii's islands, but it was ignored as at the time Radar had been proven to have its own fair issues as it was still fairly new, and hours before the attack a Japanese submarine was detected by a US destroyer who attempted to radio in their discovery but it was ignored so they went to deal with it themselves

and iv also heard that the british had key intel that detailed a potential attack on Pearl Harbor, but withheald that info from the US for some reason

2020-12-08 22:19:27 UTC

aka intelligence blunder

2020-12-08 22:20:11 UTC

unless the British knew the US would get involved if a direct attack on them happened, which is good for Britain, hence why they withheld it

Dec. 11th. Germany and Italy declare war on the US

2020-12-08 22:38:12 UTC

Also with the radar thing they mistakened the Japanese aircraft for a flight of B-17s.

This isnt really history but here is a piece of mammoth tusk that I bought at a mineral and fossil show at the University of Houston a few years ago. I bought it from a nice couple who has a website you can purchase from named Rich and Lisa Hagar. This tusk was found in Alaska and dates back to the Pleistocene Epoch meaning it is anywhere from 2.5 million go 11 thousand years old.

I believe I payed around 120 dollars for this piece but you can buy whole tusk from them. They had them on display with a small one which cast 2 thousand dollars and there was a massive one which I believe cost 20 or 40k

2020-12-09 04:15:01 UTC

He keeps talking about how socialism is the government giving workers equality

2020-12-09 04:15:07 UTC

but I don't know what he means

2020-12-09 04:15:22 UTC

I'll have to ask him questions but he seems like another NPC

2020-12-09 04:15:31 UTC

Fuck socialism, if its so great, why did my grandfather leave china?

2020-12-09 04:16:26 UTC

Socialism is one of those "good on paper, bad in practice" ideologies. Those whole cannot read past the false promises of hope and change are the enablers of socialist policy

2020-12-09 04:17:19 UTC

My english teacher taught me that in 7th grade
at least with communism

2020-12-09 04:18:20 UTC

Hm. My teacher at that time taught us how utopias were not exactly so

2020-12-09 04:18:35 UTC

yeah

2020-12-09 04:18:51 UTC

but I think they're going to start teaching the opposite soon

2020-12-09 04:19:28 UTC

Under the guise of "teaching tolerance" and "raising awareness for equality"

2020-12-09 04:20:12 UTC

in 7th grade we read The Wave which was about an experiment that explored the reasons of why people would follow the nazi regime

2020-12-09 04:20:23 UTC
