it’s dated 1864
I’m not a metallurgist or nothing, but judging from the size and length the barrel maybe it’s some sort of howitzer for sieging? @obnoxiouswolf 2
This might help ^
No rifling so smoothbore
Isn’t that from the battle of bunker hill?
Sure does look like it
60 or 70 years later give or take
You should know this already God
Ik
Just saying
Hot
Union siege cannon. Looks king of similar no?
Sorta
But barrel length doesn’t match
More compensating
that one looks a bit fatter
Yeah
got the right shape though
Like that ^
the back looks a bit different
Ye just to note, that is a 100 pound parrot rifle for reference
there was something that said 28 pound on the barrel
I think 100 pound is for the weight of the shot
Or something I’m not sure
^ that’s also a parrot rifle 100 pounds
This is from an auction but I think it’s the same gun
@obnoxiouswolf 2 again sorry for the ping. Just want to help. 😄
No
Nevermind. The barrel is to thin
But the shape is right
The Parrott had a 3-inch bore, which became standard military issue in the Union army after 1863.
Prior to this the Parrott had a 2.9-inch bore.
The gun also came in 20 and 32 pounder sizes.
