It works like the slide release on a pistol

2020-08-30 03:59:06 UTC

Thoughts on Pawn shops for firearms?

2020-08-30 03:59:14 UTC

Good? Bad?

2020-08-30 03:59:24 UTC

Never been to one before

2020-08-30 04:00:19 UTC

If you know how to evaluate a gun's condition, I'd say there's nothing wrong with going that route

2020-08-30 04:02:35 UTC

Considering I don't know how to evaluate I should probably steer clear? 😅

2020-08-30 04:02:47 UTC

No, you should learn how to evaluate

2020-08-30 04:03:27 UTC

Otherwise you limit yourself not only in the types of guns that you can buy but you also are not as able to watch the degradation of your own guns

2020-08-30 04:04:11 UTC

How would I learn to do that?

2020-08-30 04:04:33 UTC

It's a lot simpler than you might expect

2020-08-30 04:05:25 UTC

Look down the barrel, make sure the rifling is still sharp, make sure that there's no pitting inside, check for any signs of erosion

2020-08-30 04:06:16 UTC

Erosion is a gradual wearing off of material, sort of like how ocean waves pounding against a rock will slowly erode the rock

2020-08-30 04:06:31 UTC

Ah

2020-08-30 04:07:05 UTC

There are also precision machined go/ no go gages out there

2020-08-30 04:07:23 UTC

You can use those to verify that the headspace is intact

2020-08-30 04:07:39 UTC

If that comes out of spec that can be... problematic

2020-08-30 04:10:58 UTC

Those are the most important ones to look for. Other things to look for are the condition of the locking lugs on the bolt, smoothness of the action, condition of any rivets or screws holding everything together

2020-08-30 04:27:26 UTC

Alrighty thanks

2020-08-30 04:32:09 UTC

I'm sure there's more to it that I'm forgetting

2020-08-30 04:32:34 UTC

And probably a lot that I don't even know

2020-08-30 04:54:44 UTC

@HUNTER4639 all the guns we have bought have been from pawn shops

2020-08-30 04:54:51 UTC

There is nothing wrong with them

2020-08-30 04:55:17 UTC

The plus is that you can make a deal with them unlike corporate stores and stuff

2020-08-30 05:03:01 UTC

Oh awesome

2020-08-30 05:04:52 UTC

I can't find a direct answer anywhere 😕

2020-08-30 05:05:47 UTC

That probably isn't legal...please do not ask for help on how to bypass the law, no matter how stupid the laws may be.

2020-08-30 05:12:00 UTC

It is legal... I didn't ask how to bypass the law...?

2020-08-30 05:12:09 UTC

Wtf

2020-08-30 05:12:37 UTC

I buy alot of used guns its just a matter of researching the gun u want

2020-08-30 05:12:50 UTC

Whats illegal

2020-08-30 05:13:02 UTC

@Froski It's legal what are you on about? I looked it up but I just asked how to get it registered in California... Smh

2020-08-30 05:13:27 UTC

Everything in cailf is illegal

2020-08-30 05:14:50 UTC

You seemed to be asking how to transfer a gun from one state to another. Gun laws in California are rather restrictive as to what you can have, which usually means your best bet is to buy a gun in California, to ensure it is within the state law.

2020-08-30 05:16:07 UTC

You can transfer a gun from one state to another... You can basically have anything ordinary as long as it isn't a scary black rifle...

2020-08-30 05:18:20 UTC

@Froski and yes, I was asking how as I've never done it before... Is it bad to ask for advice? I thought maybe someone else had done it before but whatever guess I'll just go on not knowing the answer.

2020-08-30 05:19:37 UTC

You can. The way it was asked made me think you were intending on trying to purchase a gun that was outside the restrictions in California, to then be transferred to California. It was a simple misunderstanding due to the way it was asked.

2020-08-30 05:19:58 UTC

I never even said what kind I wanted☹️

2020-08-30 05:20:20 UTC

The issue was that you were asking how to buy it from another state.

2020-08-30 05:22:16 UTC

Ok thanks

2020-08-30 05:22:36 UTC

Yep.
