Why i got a silencer

2020-11-23 06:46:01 UTC

Exibit A in daylight

2020-11-23 06:46:31 UTC

We have a "dynamic" baffle design in one of our test mufflers

Dynamic

2020-11-23 06:47:07 UTC

I need to get a newer pic of mine. threw a threaded barrel and suppressor high night sights on it

2020-11-23 06:47:33 UTC

Mine needs new night sights, they dont glow so well anymore

2020-11-23 06:47:50 UTC

must be a bit older then

2020-11-23 06:48:10 UTC

Police trade in from the late 1990s

2020-11-23 06:48:32 UTC

it wasn't as bad to install the sights myself either, just need a vice and some punches and a rubber mallet

2020-11-23 06:48:48 UTC

@CyberSpacePirate the baffles move. Each chamber can increase in volume.

2020-11-23 06:48:55 UTC

ah yeah, good ol tritium half life

2020-11-23 06:49:00 UTC

Whattt

2020-11-23 06:49:11 UTC

Like springs?

2020-11-23 06:49:14 UTC

that sounds sick @Ironman

2020-11-23 06:49:37 UTC

it's for cars though?

2020-11-23 06:49:45 UTC

I wonder if you could adapt that tech for suppressors

2020-11-23 06:50:10 UTC

@CyberSpacePirate springs are used, yes. Since pressure is equal to temperature over volume, increasing the volume decreases the ratio (pressure).

2020-11-23 06:50:19 UTC

A silencer is just a muffler for a gun, the technology is nearly identical

2020-11-23 06:50:27 UTC

This is true

2020-11-23 06:51:07 UTC

right, just having to deal with a lot higher pressures in the gun mufflers 😛

2020-11-23 06:51:10 UTC

So, moving it arround causes heat to build slower?

2020-11-23 06:51:15 UTC

We also have a few other ideas incorporated into it. Lets just say we have a very large surface area for cooling and heat transfer

2020-11-23 06:52:02 UTC

Ribbed for pleasure?

2020-11-23 06:52:13 UTC

I really want a lathe to form 1 my own cans

2020-11-23 06:52:17 UTC

one day...

2020-11-23 06:52:31 UTC

Each baffle increases in size as the pressure moves through the housing. The housing has a surface that is similar to a piece of charcoal. Charcoal has a huge surface area for a small volume

2020-11-23 06:52:49 UTC

Hollywood quiet

2020-11-23 06:52:56 UTC

Very cool

2020-11-23 06:53:36 UTC

Obviously to a point. Then the mechanics of the rifle and the ballistic crack take over. The 300 blackout was stupid quiet

2020-11-23 06:54:35 UTC

Ive been looking into quieter buffers as well but not sure on their reliability and lifespan

2020-11-23 06:54:49 UTC

Maxim has a nice setup

2020-11-23 06:55:09 UTC
2020-11-23 06:55:18 UTC

Weight, longetivity, decibel rating. Pick 2.

2020-11-23 06:55:26 UTC

gonna be my MPX can and maybe 9x39 AK can

2020-11-23 06:55:50 UTC

My AR already weights more than an AK being 1/2 the length so

2020-11-23 06:56:21 UTC

Ive seen everything from 2 liter pop bottles to electrical conduit.

2020-11-23 06:56:40 UTC

Lol

2020-11-23 06:56:46 UTC

Some guy even used a potato on youtube

2020-11-23 06:56:49 UTC

Potato time

2020-11-23 06:56:54 UTC

Yesss
